Freakier Friday Just Had An Early Screening, And Lindsay Lohan Was ‘Overwhelmed By The Reactions

Looking forward to it since long, the exciting movie titled “Freakier Friday” has been scheduled for release on August 8th, 2025. Although that’s several months from now, we’ve already caught a glimpse of the sequel’s trailer, giving us some insights about the film. However, watching a clip isn’t equivalent to listening to audience feedback.

Indeed, at CinemaCon 2025, Lindsay Lohan joined Jamie Lee Curtis onstage during the Disney Panel. This event, which TopMob live-blogged, showcased content from films like Thunderbolts, Avatar: Fire and Ash, the latest Predator movie, among others. As they made their way onto the stage to Chappell Roan’s “Hot To Go,” I was particularly excited when Lohan revealed that some viewers had already caught a glimpse of the upcoming film!

The actress expressed feeling “overpowered” by the audience’s reaction, echoing a previous comment made by a Disney executive during this discussion. Notably, the executive mentioned that they were pleased with “the reception” the sequel to the 2003 movie has received so far, as well. As stated by Lohan:

More recently, we watched a film, and the crowd’s response left us utterly astounded. The room echoed with laughter, applause, and even songs, making for an incredibly enjoyable experience.

It’s perfectly clear to me that “Freaky Friday” was released just before “Mean Girls”. It’s an entertaining movie that you can enjoy with your friends or family, and people who were teenagers when it initially came out often have children now. There’s a great deal of affection for the footage we’ve seen so far, and our own Corey Chichizola has already stated that Jamie Lee Curtis is quotable again in this new version – following her “crypt keeper” line becoming famous in the original film.

For quite some time now, it’s been evident that there’s significant interest in this movie. Granted, the initial viewers might lean towards being partial, but I’m hoping it will find its mark successfully.

According to Curtis, she’s optimistic it will resonate with theater-goers, a sentiment echoed repeatedly during panels by Paramount, Universal, Sony, Lionsgate, Warner Bros., and even newcomer Amazon. There appears to be a strong desire to present content that audiences will enjoy in theaters, and Curtis believes this is one such production that’s best experienced on the large screen; however, only time can confirm this.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that our film, crafted with heartfelt devotion last year, was designed for an unforgettable cinematic journey on the grand screen and amidst a bustling crowd. The only appropriate way to savor a Freaky Friday experience is in this setting. We eagerly await your presence as we embark on this exciting adventure together!

Let’s wait, even though I remain optimistic following Lohan’s disclosure of initial responses to the movie. In the upcoming months, not only Thunderbolts but also a few other Disney projects are expected to hit the big screen. However, Freakier Friday won’t debut until August 8th. But there’s plenty to look forward to this year – including the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, so keep an eye out for updates.
