Full House’s Worst Episode, According to the Cast

The classic show Full House, a beloved staple in TV history, continues to be cherished by fans through its reruns on Max. Many of the cast members also enjoy reminiscing about their time on the show, particularly Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber who host a Full House rewatch podcast. Yet, this doesn’t stop them from expressing genuine opinions about some challenging scenes in the sitcom. Lately, they’ve pointed out an early episode that stands out as “definitely the worst,” and I believe their assessment is accurate.

In the opinion of Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler), the fifth episode from the first season of ‘Full House’, titled ‘Sea Cruise’, is considered the weakest. They voiced their disapproval on a recent episode of ‘How Rude, Tanneritos!’ where Barber boldly stated…

Without a doubt, this episode is one of the poorest we’ve had. I can’t remember an episode as bad as this one since ‘Sea Cruise’. In fact, ‘Sea Cruise’ has been the low point across all seasons so far.

In this particular episode, broadcasted on October 16, 1987, Danny (played by Bob Saget) decides to send the girls away for a while, allowing him some quality guy time with Jesse (John Stamos) and Joey (Dave Coulier). Though Danny feels hesitant about moving forward so swiftly after his wife’s passing, they find themselves aboard a shaky boat filled with females.

Jodie Sweetin concurred with her podcast partner, but suggested a few potential contenders for the “least favorable episode” title.

Among various options,

The sea voyage stands out in comparison. However, I must admit that the peculiar Michelle dream scene was quite unsettling, and the Howie elements were also somewhat disappointing. Yet, neither could match the level of displeasure I felt about ‘Sea Cruise.’

Andrea Barber maintained her stance, asserting that among all the Tanner family episodes they’ve rewatched over the years, none have been quite as poor as this particular one, as expressed by her own words.

So far, ‘Sea Cruise’ remains my pick for the most dreadful episode. I’ve been hoping to find one that surpasses it, but as of now, nothing has come close.

Without a doubt, I wholeheartedly endorse the recognition given to “Sea Cruise.” Being friends with DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle since childhood might have influenced my opinion, but isn’t it true that Full House shines brightest when the girls are present? In fact, John Stamos himself confessed he initially felt apprehensive about potentially being outshone by the young cast members.

By the fifth episode, it makes me ponder just how many viewers were drawn in by the witty wordplay and insinuations among the bachelors, as well as their awkward musical performances, cheesy lines, and Jesse’s delicate self-esteem.

Initially, I was taken aback by how swiftly Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin reached their decision, considering their apparent discomfort during the “Shape Up” episode from Season 4 where Candace Cameron Bure’s character diets to lose weight for a pool party. I had assumed this might have been one of the factors they considered.
