As a connoisseur of fine timepieces and a lifelong admirer of Japanese artistry, I must admit that this new limited edition MRG-B2000 from G-SHOCK has truly captured my heart. The blend of modern technology with traditional samurai aesthetics is nothing short of remarkable.
Building on its collection of samurai-themed timepieces, G-SHOCK has introduced a new, limited edition model – the MRG-B2000JS-1A. Similar to last year’s “Shougeki-Maru: Gai” watch, this latest release harmoniously combines artisanal details that honor the legacy of the master swordsmith.
The inspiration for the piece comes directly from a “Juryoku-Maru: San,” an original katana that was specially commissioned by Casio. The sword was forged by leading Japanese master swordsmith, Teruhira Kamiyama, who also hand-etched the sword’s name in kanji on the watch’s caseback.
Equipped with a rejuvenated hybrid titanium bezel similar to the elegant charm of its blade, this watch also showcases an exclusive pattern on its titanium alloy band. This design draws inspiration from Mamoru Nomura’s Aogai blue shell lacquer-work, a lavish finish that gracefully adorned the original katana’s scabbard.
Starting in November, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase the MRG-B2000JS-1A “Juryoku-Maru: San” from G-SHOCK, priced at approximately $8,000 USD, with only 800 units available.
