GameSir G8+ Bluetooth mobile controller review – “Everything you could want from a controller and more!”

GameSir G8+ Bluetooth mobile controller review - "Everything you could want from a controller and more!"

As a gamer with smaller hands, I was apprehensive about trying out the GameSir G8+ controller due to its relatively larger size. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it felt in my hands during gameplay. The grip on the handles is perfect, and the size is just right for me, making it ideal for long gaming sessions.

I’ve longed to experiment with playing some of my preferred mobile games using a controller, but until now, the opportunity hadn’t presented itself. Frankly, I’ve been depriving myself of an enjoyable experience! It seems I was holding out for the ideal one, and in my opinion, the GameSir G8+ Bluetooth mobile controller is an excellent match for me.

Alright, alright, let’s take a moment before making our decision. I want to share with you why this controller is exceptional. After thoroughly testing it in some challenging situations, such as the competitive mode of Wild Rift, I can confidently say that it performs remarkably well.

First look

Looking at the controller right out of the box, you can easily tell it’s solid. It comes with an additional three thumbsticks so you can switch them out however you want, and the moment you pick it up, you can tell it’s not as lightweight as you (probably) might expect.

To be honest, I don’t view that as a negative aspect; quite the contrary. To me, it conveys an air of quality and craftsmanship when I hold it.

An additional advantage is the use of magnets to secure the faceplates. This feature enables effortless removal for thumbstick replacement or cleaning, requiring no extra instruments or disruptions to the design.

The design is neat and comfortable

When it comes to the design of the GameSir G8+, the grip on the handles is perfect, and so is the size. For me, having smaller hands, I expected the controller to feel big. However, that was most certainly not the case (thankfully!).

As a gamer, I found this game controller, despite its size, quite comfy to grip and play. Every button was within easy reach, making the gaming experience enjoyable. In fact, my boyfriend and I almost had a tug-of-war over it when I passed it on to him – he agreed that it’s an awesome piece of gear too!

From the outset, I shared that my controller experience is limited, yet I desired one, and this particular model seems tailor-made for extended gaming hours. Comfortable as well, its design earns a perfect score of 10 from me.

The mappable buttons are a godsend

Now it’s time to talk about the elephant in the room – the mappable buttons. Of course, it has the left and right triggers like most controllers do, but it also has an additional two mappable buttons on the back, that you can easily configure for any game you want to play.

All you need to do is install the dedicated app for it, and that’s where the magic happens.

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of gaming, I can tell you that even the most durable controllers can succumb to wear and tear after extended use. Just last night, during a marathon session in Tower of Adventures, one of my trusty sticks gave out after an hour-long raid (those battles can get quite intense!). Thankfully, it was a simple fix – I had to remove the faceplate and make an adjustment or two. It’s these small, easy repairs that remind me why I love being a gamer. Despite the occasional hiccup, the thrill of conquering challenges and exploring new virtual worlds keeps me coming back for more.

Easy Bluetooth connectivity for any phone

I’ve used my ROG Phone 6D Ultimate phone with this, which is similar to the
ROG Phone 6 Diablo Immortal Edition
, and unlike my colleague’s slight issues with the
GameSir G8
, I didn’t even have to take my phone cover off.

Using Bluetooth technology, connecting various devices such as tablets (up to 215mm in length) has become a seamless process. The pairing procedure is straightforward, and you’ll notice minimal lag when using multiple devices for playback.

It’s sturdy enough for intense gaming sessions

Admittedly, I dropped the console as soon as I unpacked it (butterfingers, can’t help it) by mistake, and I got terrified that something would be wrong with it before I even had a chance to test it out. To my surprise, nothing happened – not even a scratch.

Including extended gaming periods, I encountered no problems with the GameSir G8+ malfunctioning, becoming unresponsive, or exhibiting any issues. It performs flawlessly, registering inputs promptly, and its battery endurance surpasses that of most smartphones.
