Gauri Khan's BIRTHDAY: When Shah Rukh Khan's wife designed his costume for THIS Baazigar song

As a die-hard fan of the magical duo, Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan, I am simply awestruck by their extraordinary journey. From the queen of Mannat designing her husband’s iconic outfits like the one from Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhen, to co-founding Red Chillies Entertainment and raising three beautiful children together – they are a power couple that defies conventional norms.

In my life, I was born as Gauri Chhibber, but today, I’m widely recognized as Gauri Khan – a thriving film producer and interior designer. Frequently referred to as the monarch of Mannat, I am honored to be married to the King of Romance in Bollywood, none other than Mr. Shah Rukh Khan. As his better half, I have had the privilege of producing some of his blockbusters such as Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, and many more. It was also me, Gauri Khan, who designed my beloved husband’s costume for the Baazigar song – a fact that I confirmed myself four years ago.

In 2019, it was disclosed that Gauri Khan was responsible for creating Shah Rukh Khan’s distinctive appearance in the well-known song “Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhen” from Baazigar. Gauri shared two images on her social media platforms showcasing SRK in his costume while filming Baazigar. SRK wore a legwarmer tee, a red shirt, and jeans that were artistically painted by hand for this particular outfit.

I can’t believe it was back in the 90s when I created this style… With those jeans, the #legwarmer tee, bullet belt, and a red shirt casually layered on top. My hand-painted jeans were always my favorite. #Gaurikhandesigns has certainly evolved over the years,” she shared in her caption.

Don’t miss how Gauri recalled her 90s work:

Previously, during an open conversation on Zoom, Gauri Khan discussed the process of designing Shah Rukh Khan’s costumes for various films. She shared that she was responsible for six different movie ensembles and referred to her efforts as less than satisfactory or, in her words, a “disaster”.

Regarding the song Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein, the designer shared her enthusiasm for Shah Rukh’s unique appearance. Gauri reflected on those days when she was in her twenties, mentioning that it was an exciting time as she delighted in creating his wardrobe. However, things took a turn when Karan Johar entered their lives.

Based on advice from KJo, the designer confided that he had doubted his own design abilities for Shah Rukh Khan. Later, Gauri acknowledged it wasn’t her most impressive outfit. She further disclosed that she delegated the design department to Karan for SRK’s upcoming projects at that time.

In October of 1991, Gauri Khan tied the knot with Shah Rukh Khan. Together, they established Red Chillies Entertainment back in 2002. This dynamic duo is blessed with three children: Suhana, Aryan, and AbRam. Aryan and Suhana were born in ’97 and ’00 respectively, while their youngest son, AbRam, joined the family via surrogacy in 2013.
