Gavin Newsom Sues Fox News For $787 Million Over Claims He Lied About a Trump Call

As an ardent supporter, I’m sharing that Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, has decided to take legal action against Fox News. The reason? Alleged defamation stemming from their coverage surrounding a phone conversation he had with former President Donald Trump.

In a lawsuit filed last Friday, Governor Newsom alleges that Fox News manipulated footage to falsely accuse him of lying when he stated Trump hadn’t contacted him regarding the deployment of National Guard troops during the L.A. demonstrations, as reported by various news outlets. He is seeking $787 million in compensation, which is roughly equivalent to the sum Fox paid to Dominion Voting Systems in 2023 to settle a defamation lawsuit against them.

“No more lies,” Newsom wrote in a post on X Friday. “I’m suing Fox News for $787 million.”

If Fox News chooses to deceive the American public about Donald Trump, they should experience repercussions – as they did in the Dominion case. In my view, the American people deserve accurate information from significant media sources.

Earlier this month, Trump invoked a federal law to take command over the California National Guard, following widespread demonstrations against his administration’s strict immigration policies and the deployment of ICE agents. Trump asserts that he had spoken with Newsom regarding the guards and even presented call records to Fox News, which Newsom alleges have been tampered with to support Trump’s statements, according to recent reports.

More to come.
