gérald genta Reveals “Gentissima Oursin Fire Opal” at LVMH Watch Week

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Gerald Genta has revealed the “Gentissima Fire Opal Sea Urchin” at LVMH Watch Week. This exclusive timepiece marks the fourth addition to the Gentissima Sea Urchin collection, embodying the brand’s unwavering commitment to redefining horological limits while honoring the visionary heritage of Gerald Genta.

The watch’s style is an homage to fire opals, gemstones admired for their fiery colors and originating from Mexico’s volcanic terrains. These lively stones, securely fixed into a yellow gold 3N casing, symbolize warmth and vigor. Surrounding a 36.5mm diameter case with 137 carefully positioned fire opals, the design reflects sophistication, creativity, and an enduring bond with nature.

Inside the watch resides an orange carnelian dial, emphasized by markers made of yellow gold. This design embodies Genta’s love for natural colors and the way they interact with light in gems. A faceted crystal and subtly octagonal shape reflect his distinctive design style. The watch is driven by the GG-005 Zenith Elite automatic movement, which has a bespoke rotor made of 18-karat yellow gold, providing a power reserve of 50 hours.

Matthieu Hegi, the Artistic Director, expressed that the Oursin Fire Opal embodies the transformation of the unanticipated into a work of art, paying tribute to Mr. Genta’s love for aesthetics and creativity.

The Gentissima Sea Urchin collection originated in Corsica back in 1994, drawing inspiration from a sea urchin’s spiky appearance. Fast-forward to today, the Fire Opal edition upholds this personal tale, combining scarcity, artistic skill, and superior craftsmanship. This radiant timepiece is set for launch in May 2025; pricing details will be disclosed at a later date. Keep an eye out for further LVMH Watch Week announcements here.
