Gina Gershon is revealing how her first sex scene didn’t necessarily go as planned.
Actress from Borderlands recently graced Watch What Happens Live, revealing an interesting tidbit about her career. She disclosed that her very first love scene was filmed with Tom Cruise back in 1988 for Cocktail. Interestingly, she described him as a true gentleman. However, during filming, she unintentionally kneed him squarely in the nose, leaving her mortified by the mishap.
“Once upon a time, I was snuggled under the blankets, and I shared with him that I’m quite sensitive to tickling. I warned him earnestly, ‘No way, no tickling, it’s a big no-no for me.’ In one swift moment – I believe he was aiming for a reaction – he playfully pinched my stomach, and in reflex, I kicked him hard right in the nose.”
She went on to say, “I exclaimed, ‘Goodness gracious! It seems I’ve bumped Tom Cruise’s nose.’ He replied, ‘No, no, you said something.’ I responded, ‘I’m truly sorry,’ to which he retorted, ‘It was actually my fault.’ He was incredibly cautious with me. He was fantastic.”
The movie titled “Cocktail,” helmed by Roger Donaldson, chronicles the tale of Brian (played by Cruise), a New York City student pursuing business and moonlighting as a bartender. He accepts a job at a bar in Jamaica and there, he finds himself smitten with Jordan (portrayed by Elisabeth Shue), an artist. The character Gershon portrays Coral, a photographer who deceives Brian with his business partner Doug (Bryan Brown). This infidelity is the reason behind Brian’s initial decision to relocate to Jamaica.
Gershon shared with Cohen that during the filming of the romantic-comedy drama, Cruise’s former wife, Mimi Rogers (who were married from 1987 to 1990), was frequently on set because they had recently tied the knot. However, the actress from “Killer Joe” mentioned that she and Cruise shared as many kisses as possible in the movie.
She mentioned, “For each scene, there was a moment of hesitation, ‘Shall we share a kiss in this scene?’ ‘Definitely, I believe so.'”
