‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ Revival to Play Broadway’s Palace Theatre

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the cutthroat world of virtual real estate, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the prospect of witnessing the live-action drama unfold on Broadway. The cast of Glengarry Glen Ross, with its powerhouse actors like Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk, and Bill Burr, promises an unparalleled performance that’s sure to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Glengarry Glen Ross will take over Palace Theatre this spring.

Beginning on March 10, a revival of David Mamet’s play featuring Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk, and Bill Burr will have previews at the theater before officially opening on March 31. This production is set for a rigid 12-week run with a limited scope.

Following the sudden termination of the “Tammy Faye” musical on December 8th, a new play will take over the Palace Theatre. Initially, the Palace Theatre was set to debut its grand reopening with the “Tammy Faye” production as it underwent extensive renovations over several years and was raised 30 feet off the ground. This theatre seats up to 1,306 people and is commonly used for musicals due to their popularity in attracting larger audiences compared to plays.

The upcoming performance is under the guidance of Patrick Marber, who received a 2023 Tony Award for his directing work on “Leopoldstadt“. For the first time on Broadway, Michael Odenkirk and Daniel Burr will grace the stage in this production.

New cast members joining the production include Michael McKean from Better Call Saul, who plays George Aaronow; Donald Webber Jr., known for Our Town, taking on the role of Bylen; Howard W. Overshown, a cast member of The Lehman Trilogy, as Bylen; and John Pirruccello, making his Broadway debut as James Lingk.

The stage is in a bustling real estate agency of Chicago, where four ruthlessly competitive agents are locked in a struggle to offload properties. The top seller will drive away in a new car as the prize, whereas the one who sells the least faces termination.

The play first debuted in London back in 1983, then moved to Broadway the following year where it clinched the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Later on, it was transformed into a film released in 1992 featuring Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Al Pacino, and Alec Baldwin. Interestingly, a role tailor-made for Baldwin was added to the movie’s script.

The play Glengarry Glen Ross has been revived twice on Broadway, first in 2005 with Alan Alda, Liev Schreiber, and Jeffrey Tambor as the stars, and then again in 2012 featuring Al Pacino, Bobby Cannavale, and David Harbour.

Jeffrey Richards serves as the main producer for this show, having previously worked as a public relations representative during the initial production in 1984 and then overseeing later restagings.
