Morning America has experienced several transformations recently, following the dismissals of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes in early 2023, which sparked some staff alterations. Lately, rumors have been circulating about potential modifications to one hour of GMA, but assurances were made that there was nothing to worry about. However, an inside source claims that significant updates are actually forthcoming. Consequently, a few anchors might be preparing for departure.
What’s Allegedly Going On With GMA3?
It’s being reported that the 3-hour segment of “Good Morning America” known as “GMA3: What You Need to Know” may experience significant changes towards the end of summer. According to a source who spoke with Page Six, current hosts DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim could be let go. The potential reason behind these changes is said to be the show’s poor ratings. However, it’s important to note that the network has not yet confirmed these alleged firings, but a representative did say this:
From the get-go, our plan has been to bring together every time segment under the GMA brand, encompassing the entire team, and this incorporates recognizing all the extended GMA family during the third hour. The third hour holds significant value within the GMA franchise.
In May 2023, Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan were appointed as the new hosts for the third hour of their show. Prior to this, they had worked as correspondents and anchors for ABC News. Compared to their predecessors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, their tenures have been relatively uneventful. However, in May 2024, DeMarco Morgan gained attention when a series of bike photos showing a noticeable bulge spread widely online, earning the nickname “Bulge Gate” among some internet users.
According to insiders, there are rumors that ABC might tap some of its prominent personalities such as Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan, to step into the roles left vacant by the hosts. However, it’s important to note that this is not yet confirmed. The representative did mention that both Stephanopoulos, Strahan, and Roberts will “still be prominently featured” on the show.
What Happened With Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes And What Are They Up To Now?
Towards the end of 2020, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach started co-hosting GMA3. In 2022, they found themselves in a predicament involving leaked vacation photos that showed them in a romantic relationship. Remarkably, both were still married to Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue at the time these images were taken. As a result, ABC temporarily removed them from their hosting duties, and by early 2023, they mutually agreed to part ways with the network following exit negotiations.
After the events that transpired, the two ex-anchors of Good Morning America, who are still in a romantic relationship, have switched to hosting podcasts. They co-host “Amy & T.J.” for iHeartRadio and on this platform, they’ve been open about their personal lives. Beyond admitting that they were both going through separations when their relationship became public knowledge, they’ve discussed feeling their jobs were unfairly taken away from them.
After Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes left ABC News, there’s been talk about how hard it has been for them to find replacements who can fill their roles effectively. This makes me ponder if DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim might be nearing the end of their tenure as well. However, until official announcements are made, we can only speculate on this matter.
