The upcoming game from Sony Santa Monica Studio is said to be a tale set in a realm of high fantasy, filled with sorcerers and mystical powers.
As a diehard fan, I stumbled upon what appears to be a sneak peek at an upcoming project by the God of War team, shared on a 4chan thread. Since it’s unofficial information, I recommend taking it with a pinch of salt. The intrigue surrounding this leak stems from early concept art that showcases actress Debra Wilson adorned in tribal garb, sporting facial tattoos and wearing a saber-tooth skull as an accessory on her shoulders.
In this upcoming game, the backdrop unfolds a science-fantasy tale set millennia from now. Humanity has reverted to a feudal society that mirrors the Middle Ages. Magic is present but requires a device similar to a nuclear power source, one of the remaining artifacts from humanity’s advanced era. The antagonists are a group of dark sorcerers who are launching attacks on the central kingdom with an ultimate goal: to conjure a cosmic demon, though their motives remain a mystery.
The narrative seems to be influenced by well-known fantasy novels, such as those penned by Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, Robert Jordan, and George R.R. Martin. However, the exact size of this fictional universe is yet undefined.

The fresh title introduces a leading character who is a woman, exploring topics such as ethnicity, social standing, and governmental affairs. Debra Wilson’s character is expected to have a substantial impact, acting as a non-player character (NPC) that supports the protagonist in her fight against suppression related to oppressive systems.
Debra Wilson’s recent success in video games suggests that her involvement in this project is promising. She has previously been seen in Destiny 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and will also be portraying Queen Michelle in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza set in Hawaii.
The recent leak coincides with an earlier report from four years back. Back then, Sony Santa Monica was on the hunt for skilled professionals to establish guidelines for creating fantasy realms. They were also in need of artists adept at designing convincing and lifelike characters, creatures, and props within these fantastical worlds, utilizing modern industry-standard tools and methods.
Following the scrapping of the live-action God of War game, it’s gratifying to observe Sony Santa Monica delving into something new. There are whispers that they might be developing a God of War installment taking place in Egypt, implying that Kratos’ journey is not yet complete.
