Golden Globes: Seth Rogen, Catherine O’Hara Joke That They Used to Star in Canadian Porn Movies

During their appearance at the Golden Globes on Sunday evening, Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara proudly showcased their Canadian acting heritage, gleefully discussing it throughout the event.

But the work they pretended to reminisce about wasn’t family-friendly.

The pair joked about winning trophies called the “Golden Antler” and “Beaver” while announcing the award for best female actor in a limited series or TV movie at the Golden Globes. From the stage, Seth Rogen commented, “You know, in Canada we don’t have America’s puritanical history. That means that both pornographic and non-pornographic films are equally appreciated there.”

The duo playfully discussed their prizes, which included trophies known as the “Golden Antler” and “Beaver”, while announcing the award for best female actor in a limited series or TV movie at the Golden Globes. Seth Rogen humorously pointed out from the stage, “You realize, up here in Canada, we don’t have America’s puritanical background. Therefore, both pornographic and non-pornographic films are celebrated equally.

The actor brought attention to his supposedly award-winning adult films produced in a different region, with titles such as “Log Riders,” “Sticky Syrup,” and “The Moose Knuckles” series. Suddenly, O’Hara asked, “Oh, you won the Beaver Award?”

This version maintains the original meaning but uses simpler language and rephrases some elements for clarity and readability.

“Rogen proudly declared that we took home the Beaver award, but in reality, we dominated the competition that year with our film, Moose Knuckles 2. It was an impressive multi-win at the Beavers. Later, he congratulated O’Hara for earning two Golden Antlers for her exceptional portrayal of Alanis Morissette’s mother in a biopic. Surprisingly, like much of their early Canadian productions, this film had not yet been released in the United States.”

In response to being thanked, O’Hara expressed her performance in “The Alanis Morissette Story” as being quite intense. She continued by mentioning that she was still processing it all. Later, she handed the conversation back over to Rogen, who had won a Golden Antler, presumably for portraying Ryan Gosling, another famous Canadian actor, in an unauthorized biopic.

However, none of these performances can match your award-winning portrayal in the ‘Otters Tale’, a story about a woman who saves an orphaned otter cub and nurses it to health using her own milk,” Rogen commented, referring to another fictional O’Hara trophy performance. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been curious about how you managed to film those scenes with the otter,” he added.

Indeed, it was so. The otter’s actions were undeniably the cause, and I suffered the loss of half a nipple as a result. Yet, this experience has opened doors to a plethora of amusing, extremely adult-themed comedies,” O’Hara asserted.

On the very same day, the Canadian pair graced the Red Carpet at the Golden Globe Awards, coincidentally marking the debut of a short clip from The Studio, the satirical comedy by Rogen and O’Hara that delves into the behind-the-scenes world of Tinseltown on Apple TV+.
