Goodrich Trailer Finds Michael Keatons Life Turned Upside Down

As a seasoned moviegoer who has witnessed the evolution of cinema for decades, I must say that the return of Michael Keaton to the big screen in movies like Goodrich and Beetlejuice is nothing short of exhilarating!

In the new trailer for the upcoming film ‘Goodrich’, Michael Keaton is seen returning to the big screen, promising a mix of laughter and tears. Alongside him, Mila Kunis takes on a role. This fresh comedy, penned and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, has just released its first trailer online. Keaton portrays Andy Goodrich, a man whose life is unexpectedly flipped when he’s compelled to assume the parental responsibilities for his nine-year-old twins. As events unfold, Andy seeks assistance from his grown daughter, Grace (Kunis). However, as they navigate parenthood together, Grace grapples with witnessing Andy transform into the father she yearned for during her upbringing.

Goodrich is being distributed by Ketchup Entertainment, the same company responsible for this year’s Hellboy reboot titled “Hellboy: The Crooked Man.” After securing the rights with a substantial sum in the millions (reported by Deadline), they have now acquired the cast which includes Keaton, Kunis, Carmen Ejogo, Michael Urie, Vivien Lyra Blair, Kevin Pollak, Nico Haraga, Danny Deferrari, Lauren Benanti, and Andie MacDowell.

The film represents Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s second directorial effort, following her initial venture into directing with the 2017 comedy “Home Again,” which starred Reese Witherspoon. For more details about the movie, you can read its official synopsis (for Goodrich) provided below.

“The life of Andy Goodrich (played by Michael Keaton) takes an unexpected turn when his wife, who is the mother of their nine-year-old twins, checks into a 90-day rehab facility. This leaves Goodrich to navigate parenthood on his own with their young children. In this new situation, he relies heavily on his daughter from his previous marriage, Grace (played by Mila Kunis). Over time, he transforms into the kind of father that Grace had never known before.”

Michael Keaton isn’t just starring in one comedy this year; he’s also set to appear in the long-awaited sequel of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice,” titled simply as “Beetlejuice.” It’s been more than three decades since Keaton portrayed the deceased lawyer in the original film, and now he’s back alongside Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara under Burton’s direction once again.

In a later timeframe, Lydia (previously Ryder) finds herself caring for her adolescent daughter, Astrid (Ortega), while also dealing with her own mother, Delia (O’Hara). An unforeseen incident brings the Deetz family back to Winter River. There, Astrid stumbles upon a gateway to the spirit world and, typical of teenagers, playfully summons Beetlejuice.

In recent times, legacy sequels have sparked debates among fans. While some are thrilled at the prospect of revisiting cherished characters on the big screen, others fear that the sequel might not measure up to the brilliance of the initial installment. This sentiment is shared by fans of Beetlejuice. However, Keaton is assuaging fan concerns with a firm declaration regarding the upcoming sequel. The 1988 film Beetlejuice, a timeless classic, allegedly boasts a more robust narrative in Tim Burton’s new sequel. The actor further stated:

“I found surprises within that exceeded my expectations, making me exclaim more than just, ‘I can hardly wait for this to arrive,’ or, ‘I hope this Beetlejuice character becomes even more outrageous.'”
