Goods & Services Gets Rugged with New Day Hiker Shoe

As a seasoned hiker and a connoisseur of unique footwear, I am utterly captivated by the Goods & Services Day Hiker. With its masterful blend of outdoor functionality and luxurious craftsmanship, this sneakerboot is an absolute game-changer in my eyes.

Product Name: Day Hiker by Goods & Services

Goods & Services, based in LA, is not just known for its expert shoe crafting, but also offers a wide range of designs such as innovative Vibram soles on Birkenstock Bostons, reimagined versions of iconic shoes like the Air Jordan 3 and Air Max 95, and lovingly refurbished Geobaskets. Going beyond these, the brand has ventured into creating their own shoes made in LA. This year, they introduced two colorways of a hybrid mule, one being a collaboration with 18 East, and now they’ve unveiled a new sneakerboot-style silhouette called the Day Hiker.

This mid-height shoe showcases diverse vegetable-tanned leathers as its main material, predominantly a rugged, suede-like “rough out” leather. A black pebbled leather mudguard and toe cap are superimposed over this, while the collar is cushioned with soft, vegetable-tanned lamb skin. As these vegetable-tanned parts age, they’ll acquire a deep, rich patina due to wear, aging, and UV rays. The shoe’s premium construction extends to its Goods & Services Day Hiker design, which includes an EVA midsole, Vibram hiking-ready outsole, and heel. Additionally, it comes with various lace choices for customization.

According to Rory Fortune, founder of Goods & Services, uncommon types of leather that develop a unique patina over time are typically not found in outdoor footwear or sneakers but rather in work boots. He believes there’s a charm in shoes that acquire a ‘custom’ patina during hikes and journeys. Additionally, Fortune mentions that the Day Hiker tends to run slightly large, so if your shoe size falls between two sizes, consider going down half a size for a better fit.

On October 29, the Day Hiker goods and services will become available on our official website. Starting from today, October 25, current clients have the opportunity to purchase a pair. Meanwhile, email subscribers can secure one as early as October 28. The retail price is set at $425 USD.
