Gracie Abrams Recalls What It Was Like Backstage on Final Night of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

As a fan who has been fortunate enough to witness Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, I can wholeheartedly say that it was nothing short of magical. Gracie Abrams, whose opening acts graced our ears and eyes on various legs of this global phenomenon, shared some heartwarming behind-the-scenes moments from the final show in Vancouver, which felt like the last day of school, filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and a touch of melancholy.

The last performance of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour brought on a flood of tears from the audience at the Vancouver arena, and it wasn’t just the spectators who were moved to tears backstage as well.

Gracie Abrams, who performed as an opening act for Taylor Swift during the last stage of her worldwide tour and also at certain shows in 2023, shared some special backstage experiences from the heartfelt final performance in a recent chat with Nylon.

She reminisced that everyone seemed to be tearful throughout the day, evoking the emotions of the final day at school. Backstage, people carried their Eras Tour memorabilia, exchanging autographs in each other’s books. Sharpies were a common sight among them.

The singer behind “That’s So True” shared insights on her methods for dealing with the conclusion of her Eras Tour, which spanned almost 150 performances on five different continents.

Abrams mentioned that he watched the live broadcasts for events he couldn’t attend himself. He expressed a mix of emotions, gratitude, and disbelief, stating that it’s saddening for us all as a global community that we won’t have the opportunity to be enlightened by that source any longer.

She mentioned, “I was thoroughly enjoying every second of her performance as well. In fact, I’ve been delving into it for approximately a year-and-a-half. Each time I’ve performed before her [Swift], I observe and absorb. I pick up something new from her even during our casual chats about the weather.

On various occasions during Taylor Swift’s record-breaking tour, called “Fortnight,” Abrams served as the opening act. She made her debut at a concert in Arlington, Texas, in March 2023. Subsequently, she performed for specific shows during the initial North American phase of Swift’s tour. Later on, Abrams re-joined Swift for her second North American tour leg, which concluded earlier this month in Canada.

Apart from Abrams, it’s not just him who’s been emotional following the conclusion of the Eras Tour. Dancer Kameron Saunders, a fan-favorite throughout the tour, penned an Instagram post last week stating that he hasn’t stopped shedding tears since the final performance.

He expressed that he’s finding it difficult to fully articulate the past two years of his life, so please bear with him as he figures out the best way to convey this experience. However, one thing he’s certain about is expressing gratitude towards his ‘Boss Lady’.
