On the popular TV series “Gram Chikitsalay,” led by Amol Parashar, several characters have made an impact, but none more so than Dhelu. This character, skillfully played by comedian and actor Kartikey Raj, has truly captured everyone’s attention with his quick humor and impeccable comic delivery.
If you’re not familiar, Kartikey gained recognition before this program through his stints on The Kapil Sharma Show. On that show, he is particularly recognized for portraying Khajur, Chandu’s son. Kartikey is a gifted comedian who has charmed audiences with his perfect comic timing and captivating screen presence. He initially gained prominence as a contestant on India’s Best Dramebaaz.
For the first time, he stood on stage, an experience that initially didn’t cross his mind as part of a future career in acting. Born and raised in the Saidpur village of Patna district, Bihar, he hails from humble beginnings. As per reports, his performance fee per show is roughly between 1 to 2 lakhs.
During an interview with Hindustan Times, Kartikey Raj shared insights about his personal journey, expressing gratitude towards his older brother Abhishek and the Bihar government’s Kilkari Bal Bhawan program, which fosters creativity in kids between the ages of 8 to 16, as significant factors contributing to his achievements.
He mentioned that despite not being keen on acting at first, it was his sibling who motivated him to enroll in the program, where he found an enjoyable, pressure-free atmosphere for education.
In about four months, he underwent acting training. His big break came in 2013 when India’s Best Dramebaaz scouts visited Patna for auditions. Raj was chosen and sent to Kolkata for filming, where he stayed at luxury hotels for the first time. Since then, he claimed, he hasn’t looked back.
