Liberty Media, run by influential businessman John Malone, revealed that Greg Maffei’s total remuneration for 2024 reached approximately $24.3 million. This compensation was awarded to Maffei prior to him relinquishing his positions as president and CEO at the end of the year. In simpler terms, Maffei received a compensation package worth $24.3 million in 2024 before stepping down from his roles as president and CEO towards the end of the year.

Maffei had earned $28.7 million in 2023, $22.4 million in 2022, and $21.6 million in 2021.

By the year 2024, his stock rewards escalated from $7.1 million to $8.7 million, and he earned a supplementary $1 million bonus that he hadn’t received in the previous year. However, his “non-stock incentive compensation” decreased from $14.3 million to $9.5 million, and the worth of his option rewards reduced from $3.8 million to $1.1 million.

The document additionally revealed that Chairman Malone’s annual salary was $1.18 million for the year, which represents a decrease from the previous years: $1.27 million in 2023, $1.3 million in 2022, and $1.1 million in 2021.

During the autumn season, the powerful audio entertainment company, SiriusXM, merged with the Liberty Sirius XM tracking stock group belonging to Liberty Media. This merger resulted in the formation of a brand-new, unified public corporation.

Back in January, I was thrilled to learn that Derek Chang had been named president and CEO of Liberty Media. Since March of last year, he’d been a valued member of the company’s board, and his impressive resume includes leadership positions at EverPass Media, the NBA, DirecTV, Scripps, Charter, and TCI. From February 1st onwards, I’ve been eagerly looking forward to seeing him steer this esteemed organization.

In Liberty’s recent filing, it was mentioned that Chang possesses a wealth of knowledge in the media, entertainment, and sports sectors, with a keen focus on the U.S. and Asia Pacific markets. His expertise extends to the operational and financial aspects, gained from his notable leadership roles and hands-on experience in NBA China, DirecTV, Scripps, and Charter.
