‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Canceled at NBC After a Single Season

NBC is disbanding the Grosse Pointe Garden Society.

The internal studio Universal Television’s initial series, co-created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs (creators of ‘Good Girls’), has been axed by the network. This move was made approximately five weeks following the show’s conclusion of its first season.

The postponement of the decision was partly because NBCUniversal was considering transferring the show to Peacock. Unfortunately, a deal wasn’t finalized, which ultimately resulted in the cancellation of Grosse Pointe Garden Society.

In this series, AnnaSophia Robb, Melissa Fumero, Ben Rappaport, and Aja Naomi King play the roles of four residents from a Detroit suburb who belong to a garden club. Their lives are suddenly connected through a scandalous event and a hidden secret – a murder that none of them wish to acknowledge. Additionally, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe are also part of the cast.

This series features AnnaSophia Robb, Melissa Fumero, Ben Rappaport, and Aja Naomi King as members of a garden club in a Detroit suburb. Their lives become entangled due to a scandal and a common secret – a murder that they all prefer not to talk about. Alongside them are Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe, who also star.

The Grosse Pointe Garden Society debuted in February alongside Suits LA on NBC’s Sunday night schedule after football. However, it struggled in this timeslot, much like Suits LA (which was also later canceled), leading to a shift to Friday nights in early April. While the audience saw some growth post-move, the show averaged less than 2 million viewers for the season according to Nielsen’s seven-day linear ratings, making it NBC’s least-watched regular series in this measurement. Unfortunately, streaming viewership figures weren’t yet disclosed, and Grosse Pointe Garden Society did not make the list of 112 broadcast, cable, and streaming shows that attracted over 5 million viewers during the 2024-25 season.

Bans and Krebs executive produced Grosse Pointe Garden Society with Casey Kyber.

Due to the discontinuation of the Grosse Pointe Garden Society, only one new TV series from the past season, Doctor Odyssey on ABC, is currently in an uncertain position. ABC has been discussing potential plans for a second season with co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy.

Deadline first reported the news.
