Grunt Rush is the debut release from Savvy Games’ Steer Studios

The burgeoning Saudi Arabian development sector has sparked much debate, yet it appears that one notable investment is showing promising results. Steer Studios, an offshoot of Savvy Games, unveiled their inaugural game entitled Grunt Rush, a real-time strategy puzzler.

At first sight, Grunt Rush seems quite appealing as it appears to mimic popular mobile games where you solve basic math problems to guide your character, amassing weapons and troops along the way, such as “Grab the gun! Gather more soldiers!” and similar commands.

In contrast to some other games, what sets Grunt Rush apart is that the multiplier gates are just one aspect of its broader concept. Games like Starcraft or Dawn of War are familiar to many, where launching a quick, overwhelming attack with inexpensive units is an appealing strategy. Essentially, Grunt Rush aims to replicate this experience.

Chaaarge!!!

Fundamentally, the aim is to attack your opponent aggressively before they have a chance to do the same to you. This could involve a continuous flow of common soldiers, experts, or even the occasional piece of equipment. While it might not be as complex as RISK, there’s certainly a strategic layer to it, albeit simplified.

This game, with its vibrant characters and visuals, simple yet engaging gameplay, and the option to play without an internet connection, seems designed to meet what mobile gamers are looking for today. I believe it will attract a wide range of players, but the true challenge for Steer Studios lies in how long it can retain its player base. Fortunately, they appear to have anticipated this by planning for a battle pass, tournaments, and player-versus-player (PvP) interactions.
