Netflix is going inside the Pentagon with its latest series order.

I, being an ardent fan, am thrilled to share that my favorite streamer is diving into the gripping world of “Trinity,” a new series created by Jed Mercurio, best known for his masterpiece “Bodyguard.” This captivating production is also backed by Disney’s 20th Television. In this high-stakes drama, the talented Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden will take center stage, reprising their roles as a U.S. Navy officer and the secretary of defense respectively, characters they brought to life in “Bodyguard.” I can hardly wait to witness their stellar performances unfold!

Actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, known for her roles in Apple TV’s ‘Surface’ and ‘The Morning Show’, will portray Commander Katherine Decker, who is the second-in-command onboard the USS Kansas, a nuclear submarine. Throughout the series, Commander Decker develops a relationship with Secretary of Defense Webb Preston, played by Madden. However, she uncovers evidence that suggests he might be central to a potentially dangerous conspiracy, as hinted in the show’s synopsis.

Madden’s persona stands out due to his technical background, which sets him apart from many politicians. However, his zeal for innovation is perceived as potentially challenging or disruptive.

In 2019, Mercurio’s show “Bodyguard” received two Emmy nominations for best drama series and best writing in a drama category. Aside from this, Mercurio has contributed as a writer and producer to shows such as BBC’s “Line of Duty,” which can be found on Acorn TV in the U.S., along with “Bodies” and ITV’s “Trigger Point.” In collaboration with Jimmy Mulville from Hat Trick Productions and Wendy Mericle, Mercurio will serve as an executive producer for the series titled “Trinity.” Michael Cuesta, known for his work in “Homeland” and “Dexter,” will direct and produce the first two episodes of this show.
