After hackers released the confidential source code of Chivo, the government-backed Bitcoin wallet, the situation has deteriorated significantly. CiberInteligenciaSV, the hacking group responsible for the breach, has disclosed a catalog of affected addresses on BreachForums, accompanied by a reported system weakness.
They not only released the Codigo.rar file containing the code and VPN access for the Chivo Wallet ATM network, but went a step further.
A new instance of a cyber attack has emerged, continuing a pattern of such incidents. One notable example is the theft of 5.1 million Salvadorans’ personal data, which has heightened concerns among citizens and businesses regarding the safety of the nation’s digital framework.
The Salvadoran government has shown no response, disregarding cybersecurity experts’ warnings about escalating threats from hacking activities. VenariX, a cybersecurity project, publicly warned users via a post on X about imminent data leaks, according to their Telegram announcement.
The Hacker Group #CiberInteligenciaElSalvador announces on its Telegram account that it will share part of the source code and VPN access for Chivo Wallet (@chivowallet), the official Bitcoin and Dollar wallet created by the Government of El Salvador 🇸🇻 (@Gobierno_SV). This means that the group intends to make publicly available certain elements of the Chivo Wallet’s programming code and Virtual Private Network (VPN) details.
