‘Hacks’ Star Cites Debunked ‘Very Fine People’ Hoax

Too many Americans fell for the “very fine people” hoax.

In his 2020 presidential announcement, Former President Joe Biden employed a falsehood, a storyline fueled by biased media outlets against Donald Trump. Similar tactics have been used by other Democrats in recent times, with former President Barack Obama among them as late as last October.

The media never corrected him, either.

Despite the fact that the truth about President Donald Trump not referring to neo-Nazis as “very fine people” being readily accessible online, and even liberal fact-checker site Snopes confirming this seven years later, it’s still a widely held belief that he did so.

He did just the opposite, but reporters loved the lie too much to admit the truth.

Some thoughtful progressives, such as actor Michael Rapaport, became upset upon realizing they had been deceived. Notably, Rapaport took responsibility and openly apologized to clarify the situation.

Not Hannah Einbinder.

In a Human Rights Campaign address, one Jewish actor from the hit HBO show “Hacks” employed a false claim as a means to criticize Israel, the U.S. administration, Elon Musk, and former President Donald Trump.

As a movie enthusiast, I find it reassuring when Mahmoud Khalil stands united with Palestinians and Jewish students, advocating for peace in his homeland. However, statements such as Elon Musk or Steve Bannon expressing admiration for Hitler, or Donald Trump labeling white nationalists chanting ‘Jews will not replace us’ as ‘very fine people,’ make me feel uneasy and concerned about the state of our world.

The latter is a lie. Suggesting Musk and Bannon are Nazis is preposterous.

She wasn’t finished.

In my identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, a Jew, and an American, I am deeply appalled by the excessive force used by the Israeli government against the Palestinians in Gaza, resulting in the tragic loss of more than 65,000 lives.

The twist? Einbinder identifies as queer, yet if she were unexpectedly transported to Gaza, the Palestinian authorities might not treat her with much kindness.

Amnesty International:

In Gaza, it remained illegal for two adults of the same sex to engage in intimate relationships, as this law was rooted in an ordinance from 1936 during the British Mandate period.

As a passionate cinephile, I’d rephrase that statement as follows: In September, when the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) shared guidelines aimed at treating all genders and LGBTI individuals fairly, Hamas authorities criticized these guidelines, labeling them as encouragement for immorality and deviance.

Additionally, she criticized Israel for responding to the terroristic actions of Hamas, a government that resulted in the deaths of 1,200 innocents on October 7 and abducted hundreds more. Some of these hostages, including children, were murdered during their captivity. Many others continue to be held by Hamas.

Hamas’ sexual savagery against women fueled the 2024 documentary “Screams Before Silence.”

I’m deeply dismayed and enraged that this mass killing is being supported with our U.S. taxes. It shouldn’t be a matter of debate that we, as a society, oppose the act of slaughtering innocent civilians.

If Einbinder mentioned the Israeli hostages The Hollywood Reporter account failed to mention it.

At the March 22 gathering, the star was present to receive the HRC’s Visibility Award in recognition of their efforts to increase LGBTQ+ representation both on screen and behind the scenes.

“Hacks” returns for its fourth season April 10 on Max.
