As a dedicated gamer and follower of pop culture news, I have always admired Hailey Bieber for her resilience and determination. Her recent revelation about her pregnancy and decision to share it publicly struck a chord with me, as I too have felt the desire to live my life authentically and not hide important moments from the world.
In early May, Justin and Hailey Bieber announced they were expecting a child through an instagram post. The post included pictures from their vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii and the first images of Hailey’s growing belly.
Hailey Baskett, both a successful supermodel and Rhode founder, has revealed the reason behind her decision to publicly announce her pregnancy. She shared with W magazine for their summer issue, available on July 30, that she found the stress of keeping her pregnancy a secret was not enjoyable. “I could have concealed it till the end,” Hailey said, “but I didn’t relish the pressure of hiding this significant secret from the world. I longed for the freedom to live my life openly.”
The latest cover shoot for W Magazine, featuring Bieber’s baby bump, is styled by Paul Sinclaire and photographed by David Sims, with words from Jen Wang. This image adds Bieber to the list of celebrities who have previously unveiled their bumps in W, including Kirsten Dunst, Cindy Crawford, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
In the magazine’s main article, Hailey shared her feelings about spending more moments with her husband, Justin, before their family expands. Initially, she found the early stages of pregnancy quite emotional. “I adore this person so deeply. But how can I welcome another into our lives?” she pondered. She cherished those days when it was just the two of them.
She also revealed that she has a distant relationship with her own family, comprised of actor father Stephen Baldwin and mother Kennya Baldwin. “I’m not super close with my family at this point in my life because I feel like I’m very independent. I’m my own individual now, and I’ve built my own family. But when I look back on my childhood and how I grew up, I have very fond, beautiful memories,” she explained.
About her desire for independence, Hailey joined an agency at the age of 17 and embarked on a journey around the world to kickstart her modeling career. She recalls, “I traveled extensively, earning my own income. I secured my own place to live and was responsible for paying bills. This experience propelled me into adulthood much faster than most of my peers, who were just beginning their college education.”
