Haley Joel Osment Apologizes for Using Antisemitic Slur in Police Arrest Footage

Haley Joel Osment is speaking out and apologizing for using an antisemitic slur during his arrest.

On April 8th, an actor was apprehended at Mammoth Mountain ski resort under allegations of being publicly drunk. The Mono County District Attorney’s office revealed last Thursday that Osment is facing charges for public intoxication and cocaine possession. A court date has been set for July 7th for his arraignment.

Following the publication of bodycam footage and additional videos by TMZ, it was heard that Osment referred to a driving officer as a “disgusting Nazi” and used a racial slur, commonly known as the K-word. Now, Osment is expressing remorse for his words, stating he’s “completely shocked” by his own actions.

If I had realized that I used such disrespectful words during a blackout, I would have spoken out earlier,” Osment stated in a statement provided to People magazine. “The past few months, marked by loss and displacement, have left me in a deeply emotional low point.” (Osment’s home was among those reportedly destroyed in the Eaton fire in Los Angeles.)

However, I can’t justify using that offensive term. From deep within me, I sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt by this. My words were senseless and unacceptable; I’ve failed the Jewish community, and it breaks my heart. I don’t ask for your forgiveness, but I vow to make amends for my grave error.

In additional bodycam video obtained by TMZ, officers are shown searching Osment and subsequently finding a $20 bill containing an unidentified substance suspected to be cocaine. Moreover, a bystander is seen conversing with an officer who reported that Osment had been drinking at a nearby bar and became confrontational, attempting to board a ski lift even though he lacked the necessary equipment. The staff refused him, and in response, they contacted the police.

In the year 2006, Osment had been apprehended and accused of a minor DUI (Driving Under the Influence) incident, following a road accident where he sustained injuries.
