Over the past few years, they’ve been stepping out of their comfort zone, showcasing LGBTQ+ leading movies, and subtly redefining their storytelling approach. Now, it seems that this year, they’re taking things a step further! According to Deadline, the powers that be at Hallmark are working on an exciting twist – a Christmas-themed limited series for the upcoming holiday season!

The upcoming series, scheduled for release with a total of six episodes on Hallmark+ the following day, goes by the name “The Twelve Dates of Christmas” at present. This television program is inspired by the 2020 book of the same title penned by author Jenny Bayliss. The plot revolves around Kate, a pattern designer residing in Blexford, England who lives next door to her father Mac in a charming village. Notably, Mae Whitman, known for her roles in “Parenthood” and “Good Girls”, plays the character of Kate in this production.

Although I didn’t watch as many Countdown to Christmas movies in 2024 as usual, the ones I did catch didn’t quite live up to my hopes of reaching the quality of gems like A Biltmore Christmas, A Holiday in Harlem, Catch Me If You Claus, Christmas in My Heart, or the charmingly rewatchable Christmas Waltz, or some of the network’s other standout shows. However, I’m eagerly anticipating The Twelve Dates of Christmas, which is being filmed in and around Dublin, Ireland, and can’t wait to explore the series when it premieres this year!
