As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of haunting memories etched into my gaming psyche, I can’t help but feel a shiver of excitement down my spine as I delve into the news about the return of Michael Myers to the world of video games. Having grown up on a steady diet of 8-bit terrors and modern-day nightmares, I’ve seen the evolution of horror gaming from its humble beginnings to the immersive experiences we enjoy today.
It appears that even though you thought it was secure to return to Haddonfield, the Bogeyman seems to be making his rounds once more on the city streets. Although the Halloween movie series has temporarily concluded (for now) with Halloween Ends, the influence of Michael Myers is being revived in a distinct form.
As horror games are making a comeback, the Halloween series is poised for a revival with two fresh video games in the pipeline. Even more excitingly, there’s promising talent working on these projects, leaving many optimistic that they could surpass Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
Halloween is coming back with two new video games
Just like the initial film, it offers different viewpoints from each character, such as Loomis’s, Laurie’s, Michael’s, and perhaps Sheriff Bracket’s.

According to reports, Boss Team Games is simultaneously developing not just one but two games for Halloween. These projects are in collaboration with the creators of the film series, and what’s exciting is that at least one of them will be built using Unreal Engine 5. To top it off, the team has secured the involvement of Halloween co-creator John Carpenter.
1978 saw John Carpenter at the helm for the original Halloween movie. He may have given up directing after that, but he penned the script for the 1981 sequel, Halloween II, and also produced the underappreciated Season of the Witch in 1982. More recently, he’s been involved with the music and other aspects of the latest trilogy.
Regarding Michael’s future video games, you may recognize Boss Team Games from their work on the brief-lived Evil Dead: The Game. In the upcoming project, director Carpenter will have a close role in its development. Excited about his gaming passion, Carpenter shared, “I’m eager to breathe life into Michael Myers once more in this game, and my aim is to give you a truly terrifying experience.”
Enthusiasts can anticipate experiencing pivotal scenes from the movie and assuming roles as beloved characters hailing from one of the most seminal and influential horror flicks ever made, although additional details beyond collaboration with Compass International Pictures and Further Front are scarce at present.
Lately, there has been an increase in the release of asymmetric horror games that draw on classic horror themes, such as Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the previously mentioned Evil Dead. To varying extents, they have found success. Michael Myers is no newcomer to the video game scene, having been featured prominently as “The Shape” in Dead by Daylight.
We’re hoping that at least one of Boss Team Games’ upcoming projects deviates from the asymmetric horror genre, as we find joy in the concept of exploring Laurie’s neighborhood while assuming roles like Doctor Loomis or Jamie, but we feel that the genre might be losing its freshness.
For quite a while now, Halloween hasn’t had a dedicated game. The closest we got was 1983’s Halloween, which paid tribute to the original film on Atari 2600. Since then, Michael Myers has made appearances in games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Dead by Daylight. However, it seems that it’s high time for him to emerge from the darkness and create a new legacy by having his own game.
