Hamptons Film Festival to Open With R.J. Cutler’s Martha Stewart Documentary (Exclusive)

As a dedicated gamer and film enthusiast with a soft spot for documentaries, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear about the upcoming Hamptons Film Festival lineup! The fact that Martha Stewart’s documentary, “Martha,” will have its East Coast premiere there is already enough reason for me to mark my calendar. I’ve always admired Martha’s business acumen and her ability to build an empire around lifestyle and home improvement. I’m intrigued to learn more about her behind the scenes and can’t wait to see this definitive documentary directed by R.J. Cutler.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s exclusive report, the 2024 Hamptons Film Festival will kick off by showcasing the East Coast debut of R.J. Cutler’s documentary about Martha Stewart, titled “Martha.”

The documentary produced by Oscar-nominated, Emmy-, and Peabody-winning Cutler, focusing on Martha Stewart, is being described as the ultimate portrayal. It features several unguarded conversations with the businesswoman and lifestyle icon. Netflix is set to launch this film towards the end of the current year.

“Anne Chaisson, HamptonsFilm’s executive director, expressed it was appropriate to begin this year’s festival by showcasing R.J. Cutler’s depiction of Martha Stewart. We’re thrilled to have Martha, a groundbreaking cultural icon and longtime East End resident, join us once again in the Hamptons. We warmly invite her back to our community and provide an opportunity for her to elegantly impart her motivating tale to us all.”

During the festival, there will be several noteworthy documentary premieres. One of them is “A Man With Sole” by Dori Berinstein, which is the world premiere of the Kenneth Cole documentary. Additionally, we have “Daytime Revolution” by Erik Nelson, a film that explores John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s week as co-hosts on “The Mike Douglas Show.” Lastly, “Bad Shabbos” by Daniel Robbins will be screened in the Spotlight section. The cast for this movie includes Method Man, Kyra Sedgwick, and David Paymer.

David Nugent, our festival’s artistic director, expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the creators of “Daytime Revolution” and “A Man With Sole: The Impact of Kenneth Cole”. He is thrilled that they chose our festival for the premiere of their projects. These films offer a fresh perspective on familiar topics, revealing new aspects of the characters and enriching their existing legacies with intrigue.

Excitedly speaking as a fan, I’d like to highlight some amazing premieres at the upcoming festival! First, I’m thrilled about the North American debut of “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point” by Tyler Taormina, featuring stars like Matilda Fleming, Michael Cera, and Francesca Scorsese. This is part of the Views from Long Island program.

The 32nd Hamptons International Film Festival is set to run from Oct. 4-14.
