Hannah Berner Clarifies Her Blake Lively Joke Was Filmed Before Legal Action Against Justin Baldoni

As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for pop culture and comedic timing, I must say that Hannah Berner’s joke about Blake Lively during Netflix’s comedy special seemed to be a bit misplaced, given the recent allegations against her co-star, Justin Baldoni. While I understand that the special was filmed before the legal complaint was made public, it seems like a missed opportunity for Berner not to address the situation more delicately or humorously.

Hannah Berner clarifies that her joking remark about Blake Lively was made prior to the time when she, the star of “It Ends With Us,” filed a legal complaint against Justin Baldoni.

The stand-up comic participated in Netflix’s annual comedy event titled “Torching 2024: A Year in Review Roast“, which became available on the streaming platform last Friday. Throughout her performance, she joked about various popular news items from the year, such as the romance between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, and Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s split.

However, a joke about Lively that alluded to her was met with less success due to the recent allegations against Baldoni. During the special, Berner commented, “The term ‘vulgar’ was popular this year. I don’t believe Blake Lively was as bad as it seemed.

Later on her Instagram Story, Berner clarified that the special was recorded on December 17, prior to the news becoming public. “My joke during the Netflix roast was filmed before the announcement of the complaint,” she explained. “I just wanted to make it perfectly clear that I support Blake, sending my love and affection.

On Dec 20th, I stepped forward to file a complaint, pointing out my co-star and director in “It Ends With Us” for instances of sexual harassment, fostering an uncomfortable work environment, and engaging in unprofessional and bothersome behavior during filming. Additionally, I claimed that they retaliated against me by launching a defamatory smear campaign.

Previously, Lively expressed a sentiment to The New York Times, saying, “I fervently wish that my lawsuit will draw aside the veil on these underhanded, retaliatory strategies aimed at silencing individuals who expose misconduct, and safeguard those who might face similar targeting in the future.

Attorney Bryan Freedman for Baldoni has rejected Lively’s accusations, labeling them as “unfounded, excessively provocative, and deliberately designed to cause harm” to the actor.
