In a 2019 interview with The Times of India, actress Pooja Batra shared details about how her husband, Nawab Shah, proposed to her. According to Pooja, it happened when Nawab arrived to pick her up at an airport and expressed his desire to “ask for her hand in marriage”.
In the early stages of us, there was a particular moment I’ll never forget – he arrived to collect me from the airport, and as he shared, he had planned to propose on the spot. Yet, his nerves took over, and the plan was abandoned, as I jokingly mentioned later on.
Pooja mentioned that Nawab had intended to pop the question following their initial encounter, and indeed, he made the proposal during a visit to Delhi. Later on, when they both met up again, Nawab presented himself along with his family, indicating that he’d asked for her parents’ blessing.
In a separate conversation with MensXP, Nawab Shah discussed the time he proposed to his spouse, Pooja Batra, in the presence of their families. Nawab mentioned that the proposal was spontaneous and left both of them feeling emotional.
During the same interview, the actor from Panipat was queried about his feelings towards Pooja being the ideal match for him. Referring to it as a “universal pull,” Nawab Shah conveyed that at times, decisions aren’t made and in their situation, things transpired in quite an “enchanted” or magical manner.
The actor continued that Pooja was residing in Los Angeles. While they knew each other earlier, the couple reconnected as she returned from LA.
During their initial encounter, Nawab Shah mentioned that they crossed paths at an airport and gradually increased the amount of time they spent with each other.
On July 4, 2019, Pooja Batra and Nawab Shah officially became a married couple. They chose an Arya Samaj wedding ceremony in Delhi, surrounded by their loved ones. After the ceremony, they legally registered their union. Their journey to marriage began after knowing each other for approximately five months. The two rekindled their connection through a mutual friend in February 2019 and then exchanged their marriage vows.
Previously, the ex-beauty pageant contestant was wedded to orthopedic specialist Dr. Sonu S. Ahluwalia. In 2011, she initiated divorce proceedings in an American court.
