Harmony Announces Debut Solo LP ‘Gossip,’ Shares New Single “No Romeo”

As a fan who’s journeyed through the vibrant landscape of indie rock for years, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation that’s as electric as Harmony‘s latest single “No Romeo.” Her upcoming debut solo album, “Gossip,” promises to be a sonic exploration that delves deep into the complexities of virtue and humanity, much like Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic masterpieces and the scandalous world of Gossip Girl.

Next month, Harmony is set to unveil a fresh collection of songs as her debut solo album entitled “Gossip”. Previously known for being part of the band Girlpool for nine years, she released her first solo extended play titled “Dystopia Girl” last year, following the disbandment of the group in 2022.

In the musical project titled “Dystopia Girl,” Harmony maintains the thoughtful production and clever wordplay that solidified Girlpool as a significant indie rock act of the 2010s. As a solo artist, she consistently explores diverse pop tunes and inventive visuals, evident in her latest single’s video, titled “No Romeo.”

Drawing inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s films, particularly “Romeo + Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge,” as well as the TV series “Gossip Girl,” this video takes place amidst a lively dinner gathering. The visionary behind it all is Harmony herself, who not only directed but also curated its unique style.

In the upcoming album, Harmony expresses that “Gossip” delves into various perspectives of morality. My intention was to experiment with the idea of righteousness. There are countless intriguing individuals in our world, and it’s effortless to pass judgment on them.

In the course of my life, I have learned that people come in all shapes and sizes, with a myriad of characteristics and experiences that define them. Some individuals I have come to know intimately, sharing moments and emotions that resonate deeply within me, while others remain distant acquaintances, their lives glimpsed only from afar. Yet, in my personal journey, I have found that the most profound growth comes not from those who are closest, but from the parts of myself that I once deemed unworthy or shameful.

Check out Harmony’s “No Romeo” video up there, then stream it across all platforms right away! Don’t forget to mark your calendars; “Gossip” will be available in its entirety on October 11th.
