Although there’s excitement among Harry Potter fans about the potential new series on HBO, which plans to re-imagine J.K. Rowling’s wizard character primarily for those who watched the movies finish around a decade ago, it’s worth noting that Food Network has recently enjoyed success with a show reminiscent of Harry Potter – and it’s been renewed for Season 2.
Just as Netflix’s “Squid Game: The Challenge” vividly portrayed the South Korean sensation (without the tragic loss of contestants), Food Network’s Harry Potter-themed cooking show brings a sprinkle of enchantment to its culinary competition, starting with its hosts, James and Oliver Phelps – famously known as Fred and George Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films.
The concept of the show revolves around a traditional weekly competition structure, where bakers and pastry chefs journey to famous filming sites from the Harry Potter series. Their goal is to dazzle the judges with magical culinary creations inspired by the Wizarding World. With an impressive viewership of over 16.4 million viewers on Max and Discovery+ in its first season, it’s no wonder that a new season of this spin-off will be whipping up excitement soon!
‘Wizards of Baking’ Season 2 Will Keep ‘Harry Potter’ in the Public Eye
It’s quite some time until HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series premieres in 2027, so it’s only logical that we find ways to keep the franchise fresh in viewers’ minds. Given the success of Season 1 of “Wizards of Baking” and its relatively low production cost, bringing back the show was essentially a done deal. In a statement released through Deadline, Betsy Ayala, head of food content at Warner Bros. Discovery, confirmed this.
Working together with Warner Horizon and various teams across Warner Bros. Discovery, ‘Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking‘ combined the enthusiasm for Harry Potter with the allure of Food Network as a holiday destination, resulting in stunning cakes against the enchanting backdrop of the iconic Harry Potter film sets. Fans and viewers worldwide eagerly watched to see what these gifted artists produced each week, and we are excited to present an even more captivating second season!
Apart from featuring characters and sets from the Harry Potter films within its six-episode run, the show welcomed a number of actors who starred in those movies, such as Warwick Davis, Evanna Lynch, and Bonnie Wright, as special guests. It’s possible that more guest stars will be introduced in the upcoming series, which is also rumored to bring back Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef in their roles as the primary judges.
Before the new season starts filming, Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking anticipates attracting viewers before Christmas, similar to what it achieved in Season 1. Consequently, fans may have to hold off until November for their next serving. In the interim, you can catch up on Season 1 by streaming it on Max.
