If significant time doesn’t pass within the show but does in real life, it can cause problems. For instance, when Stranger Things’ fifth and final season premieres on Netflix, approximately 10 years will have passed since the first season, but on the series, not much time seems to have elapsed. Fans have voiced concerns about the cast members’ aging, as they are now in their early twenties or late teens. Similarly, HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series might encounter similar issues. However, there is a silver lining: they already have a plan in place.

The casting process was open for children aged between 9 and 11 years old, who would fill the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.

Despite the fact that many streamers typically release seasons with significant gaps compared to network TV, this could mean that child actors might grow quite a bit during these breaks. For a large-scale production like Potter, which is likely challenging to film, this growth could present some difficulties.
