As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for films that mirror real-life experiences, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and admiration upon hearing about Heather Graham’s latest project, “Chosen Family”. Having spent countless hours navigating through virtual worlds filled with quirky characters and complex narratives, it’s refreshing to see a real-life actress turning filmmaker, especially one as talented and versatile as Graham.
Heather Graham‘s chosen family is growing.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the filmmaker, who once graced our screens as an actress, has unveiled her latest masterpiece titled “Chosen Family“. Excitingly, Brainstorm Media has secured the rights for North America and has planned a theatrical release on October 11. I can hardly wait!
In the film produced by Verdi Prods., Graham takes on the roles of writer, director, and lead actor. Alongside Graham, John Brotherton, Andrea Savage, Michael Gross, Julie Halston, Thomas Lennon, and Julia Stiles are also featured in the cast. The storyline of the movie, titled “Chosen Family“, revolves around a yoga instructor named Ann (Graham), who is on a quest for inner tranquility amidst her tumultuous family dynamics and unfulfilling romantic encounters. Her inability to decline requests and her compulsion to fix others’ problems further aggravate her predicament. Ann also battles to rescue her sister Clio (Stiles) from the grips of addiction, but her attempts often lead to unfortunate consequences.
“Graham expressed her eagerness for viewers to watch her film, which she refers to as a product of love. ‘I’m thrilled that Brainstorm is launching my film Chosen Family in cinemas,’ she added. ‘It’s an uplifting experience for me to convey a tale from a female point of view, blending humor and sincerity, while tackling significant social matters. I’m thankful for the fantastic cast and crew that made this movie happen.'”
Speaking about Brainstorm Media’s CEO, Michelle Schwarzstein, she stated, “Heather Graham truly demonstrates her remarkable acting skills, whether on screen or off. We eagerly anticipate sharing this genuine and humorous movie with everyone. Viewers are going to have an enjoyable experience for sure.”
As a film enthusiast with years of experience attending various film festivals, I must say that being involved in a project like “Chosen Family” is truly exciting and rewarding. Having had the opportunity to witness numerous films at events such as the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Miami Film Festival, San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, and San Diego International Film Festival, it’s inspiring to see a film I have a personal connection to making its way through these esteemed platforms.
Brainstorm Media recently unveiled a lineup of films, including Hannah Pearl Utt’s SXSW comedy “Cora Bora” featuring Meg Stalter and Manny Jacinto, Shane Atkinson’s “Laroy” starring Steve Zahn and John Magaro, the crime drama “Limbo,” directed by Ivan Sen and starring Simon Baker, the SXSW grand jury winner “Raging Grace” from filmmaker Paris Zarcilla, and Sara Zandieh’s romantic comedy “The Other Zoey” with Josephine Langford and Drew Starkey. The company has also obtained the Edie Falco-starrer “I’ll Be Right There,” directed by Brendan Walsh. Coming soon: Brainstorm will debut Daniel Kokotajlo’s “Starve Acre” starring Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark.
Following a lengthy and thriving acting career in front of the camera (which continues today), Graham has broadened her Hollywood endeavors by moving behind the camera. Her first directorial venture on the big screen was in 2018 with the film Half Magic, where she wrote, directed, and acted alongside Angela Kinsey, Stephanie Beatriz, Johnny Knoxville, Chris D’Elia, Molly Shannon, and others. Chosen Family is her second directorial project. Upcoming, she will appear in the film The Gunslingers.
