Instead of simply being a Role-Playing Game (RPG), Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 seems to be venturing into the realm of multiple universes. Warhorse Studios has recently disclosed that the game has sold over three million copies, implying there are now over three million Henrys wreaking havoc in medieval Europe.
In a different phrasing: Daniel Vavra, the creative director of Warhorse, suggested that given a multiverse scenario, Henry could exist in multiple versions. He wrote on X, “Picture us residing in a multiverse similar to Henry’s, and there are already three million unique yet comparable iterations. Each one has different outcomes.” This leads him to propose the idea that our existence might be within a simulation.
It appears that Henry, with his three million counterparts, has been causing quite a ruckus. Warhorse revealed that as of May 4th, Henry has opened approximately 195 million locks, swiped around 132.3 million items, and made off with over 38.5 billion dollars’ worth of goods. Additionally, he has been intoxicated for a total of 387 million hours and is responsible for the deaths of more than four million individuals during that time.
It may seem considerable, but it represents only a small fraction of Henry’s overall tally, which exceeds 489 million. Warhorse Studios make an engaging comparison: “Henry’s kill count surpasses that of the Black Death in terms of fatalities.
As a gamer, I can’t help but draw parallels between my high scores and the devastating impact of the Black Plague. This historic pandemic, known for its darkness, claimed the lives of around 50 million souls over approximately seven years. Truly, it seems Henry’s tally of victims outnumbers even the highest scores I’ve ever achieved.
The continuous sales triumph of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 undoubtedly brings joy to everyone at Warhorse Studios, yet perhaps no one more than voice actor Luke Dale, who personifies Henry’s friend Hans. In contrast to the global disappointment over the postponement of Grand Theft Auto 6 last week, Luke was the exception, finding solace in the fact that a less populated “Game of the Year” race now awaited him—a race that suddenly seemed a lot more winnable.
In just one day, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 managed to sell more than a million copies, whereas the original game took ten days to reach that same figure. However, it’s worth noting that Kingdom Come: Deliverance is already a significant success in its own right, as Warhorse Studios recently announced that they have now sold over 10 million copies of the game.
