As a long-time film enthusiast and someone who has followed the Hollywood scene for over a decade, I can confidently say that I’m thrilled to my core about the upcoming release of “Heretic.” With an impressive cast led by the talented actress we discussed earlier, this film is already making waves in the industry.
Alert, alert! A24 is behind another horror movie and it’s called Heretic!
If you’re aware of my preferences, you’d be familiar with my affection for A24’s top-notch horror productions. I genuinely believe that they have crafted some of the most impressive horror films in recent years, including “Midsommar,” “Hereditary,” and my favorite horror film from 2023, “Talk to Me.”
Nowadays, another impressive horror movie is being released – named “Heretic.” If you, like me, are eagerly waiting for a new terrifying experience following the success of “Longlegs” in cinemas, then this post is for you. Here’s what we currently know about “Heretic.”
What Is The Heretic Release Date?
Based on the information from A24’s official website, the film “Heretic” is set to premiere on November 15, 2024. This may come as a slight shock since I typically associate horror films with releases around Halloween. Nevertheless, November seems like an appropriate month for its debut as well.
In November 2024, there are numerous noteworthy movie releases that have been generating a lot of buzz. These include the long-awaited “Moana 2” and the musical adaptation of “Wicked,” along with several other highly anticipated films. I’m looking forward to seeing these movies in the theater. However, I’m especially eager to catch “Heretic” as soon as it becomes available.
Check Out The Heretic Trailer
If you’re curious about the storyline of “Heretic,” don’t miss out on the officially released trailer. Although it doesn’t reveal many details, typical of A24 horror films, it offers a peek into the terror awaiting us with its compact and skilled cast. Additionally, there are already several intriguing mysteries presented that have left me perplexed.
The Heretic Cast
In contrast to certain horror movies boasting large ensembles, “Heretic” features a more modest cast of three pivotal actors, as confirmed by A24. These are the individuals you’ll be looking out for:
Hugh Grant as Mr. Reed
To begin with, Hugh Grant is the lead actor in “Heretic” as announced by A24, portraying the character of Mr. Reed. Grant gained recognition for his numerous romantic comedies including “Notting Hill,” “Love Actually,” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary.” However, he has also taken on diverse roles throughout his career, some displaying quirky humor and others showcasing more serious dramatic performances.
In addition to his parts in films such as “Wonka,” “The Gentleman,” “Cloud Atlas,” “Paddington 2,” and “Florence Foster Jenkins,” among others, I’ve come across Grant’s acting in various roles. Surprisingly, I’ve even enjoyed his performances in horror movies and when he portrays a villain.
Sophie Thatcher
A24 announced that Sophie Thatcher is the next cast member confirmed for “Heretic,” taking on the role of one of the missionaries. Notably recognized for her portrayal of young Natalie Scatorccio in “Yellowjackets,” a standout Showtime series, Thatcher also boasts experience in other projects such as “The Boogeyman,” “Prospect,” and “MaXXXine” (yet another horror film produced by A24).
Chloe East
Chloe East, an actress with over a decade of Hollywood experience, has been announced as the latest cast member for “Heretic” by A24. Known roles for her include appearances on “True Blood,” “Ice,” and “Liv and Maddie.” However, her most notable performance to date is her breakout part as Monica Sherwood in “The Fabelmans.”
Talk about a small but stacked cast – and one I can’t wait to follow.
What Is Heretic About?
Based on my own perspective and having had the opportunity to delve into the world of film criticism, I can tell you that “Heretic” is a forthcoming cinematic experience that promises to challenge our perceptions and provoke thought. While I’ve shared details about the cast and released the trailer, what truly lies at the heart of this production remains a captivating enigma. From my past experiences with thought-provoking films, I can only imagine that “Heretic” will offer a unique narrative, rich characters, and thought-provoking themes that will leave a lasting impact on audiences. So, are you ready to embark on this cinematic journey with me?
Luckily, A24 provides us with a clear concept for this film: In “Heretic,” two missionaries are set out to spread their beliefs. However, they make an unfortunate mistake by visiting the wrong household and encounter Mr. Reed (Grant), who challenges their faith in unexpected ways.
In simpler terms, this film seems poised to keep me pondering over its implications long after the credits roll, perhaps even leaving me feeling quite uneasy or anxious. Therefore, I’m looking forward to being genuinely startled.
Heretic Is Directed And Written By Scott Beck And Bryan Woods
A24 announced that Scott Beck and Bryan Woods will helm the upcoming horror film “Heretic.” The duo has a history of working together in the genre, having co-written the critically acclaimed horror movie “A Quiet Place” together.
As a passionate gamer and an avid fan of movies, I’ve been following this particular franchise with great interest. It all started with one movie that captured my imagination, leading to a sequel and a new prequel released in June 2024. Their captivating storytelling has made them a household name in the industry, leaving me eagerly anticipating what’s next. The dynamic duo behind this franchise have an impressive resume, having directed “Nightlight” and “Haunt,” as well as contributing to projects like “65” and “The Boogeyman.” Their extensive experience in horror and other genres only adds to my excitement for the future of this franchise.
Heretic Is Being Distributed By A24
Several times before, I’ve mentioned that the film “Heretic” is produced and released by A24. This production company has earned a reputation as a leader in horror films. While A24 produces a variety of movies that aren’t horror, their contributions to this genre are noteworthy and have gained them significant recognition.
Some additional horror films from A24 that merit a mention are “The Witch,” “The Lighthouse,” “Under the Skin,” “Saint Maud,” “Men,” “In Fabric,” and “It Comes At Night,” among numerous others.
In a while, A24 has given us a new horror movie as a treat, and they never disappoint. Though it’s unclear if this production will meet the high expectations set by previous A24 horror films, I am excited with Hugh Grant as the lead actor and a compact cast. Consequently, I believe we are all in for an unforgettable fright night.
I’m counting down the days till November; the approach of its arrival fills me with anticipation, even if it signifies the winding down of spooky season. How about you?)
