As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the nuances of Hollywood-style Bollywood, I find the story of Himani Shivpuri’s encounter with Karan Johar truly captivating. Her journey from Rifat Bi to Mrs Rawat is nothing short of remarkable, and her experiences offer valuable insights into the inner workings of the Hindi film industry.
Actress Himani Shivpuri has made appearances in numerous blockbuster Hindi films. Her acting brings an exceptional taste to action-packed dramas, whether it’s Rifat Bi from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kammo Kaur of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, or Mrs. Rawat from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Recently, Himani Shivpuri shared her experience of missing out on the Shah Rukh Khan film Kal Ho Naa Ho due to a request from Karan Johar for substantial roles.
In a recent interview on YouTube with Siddharth Kanan, Himani Shivpuri discussed her time working with Karan Johar in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Additionally, she disclosed that the well-known actress did not receive any offers from Dharma Productions following the 2001 film.
In the course of filming her scenes for K3G, Himani Shivpuri reminisced about asking Karan Johar to assign her a substantial part in one of his future ventures. She also mentioned that after working together on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Karan Johar expressed appreciation for their collaboration. “I suggested, ‘From now on, give me a strong role’, and Karan replied, ‘Alright Himani ji, I gave you this part because you are my good-luck charm'”, the revered actress recounted.
Later on, Himani Shivpuri recounted that she encountered Nikkhil Advani at a movie premiere, where he invited her to join the cast for Kal Ho Naa Ho. Reminiscing, she mentioned that she had asked the late producer Yash Johar about her remuneration, and he gave her a dollar instead. The actress delegated her secretary to liaise with the creators of Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta’s film, but was informed that she had no part in the production.
The actress from Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon shared that a couple of additional movies came out, but she wasn’t invited. This left her puzzled about what exactly was going on.
63-year-old actress confronted Karan Johar at an awards ceremony, questioning him as to why she hadn’t been contacted for the part Nikkhil had proposed. In response, the producer of Kal Ho Naa Ho explained that the role wasn’t suitable for her and promised to reach out if he found a substantial role instead.
It appears that Himani Shivpuri may have unintentionally upset Karan Johar when she requested a substantial acting role, possibly implying he felt the part was not suitable or significant enough for him.
The movie “Kal Ho Naa Ho” featured Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, along with Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, and Reema Lagoo.
