As a long-time gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of music, I can confidently say that the launch of Outwrite is a game-changer for the global music industry. Savan Kotecha, with his impressive resume and passion for fostering diversity and innovation, is poised to revolutionize the way Indian songwriters are recognized and compensated on the world stage.

Songwriting sensation Savan Kotecha, renowned for his Grammy and Oscar nominations and successful collaborations with artists like Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Britney Spears, is initiating a platform aimed at assisting Indian songwriters to expand their reach to international audiences.

Indian entrepreneur Kotecha, in collaboration with A&R executive Murtuza Gadiwala, songwriter, and talent management firm REPRESENT, is unveiling Outwrite – a dynamic music publishing and management company. The aim of this new venture is to cultivate a worldwide network promoting diversity and innovation, while consistently delivering unique and revolutionary tunes.

Sharing the exceptional songwriting abilities from India with global audiences has been a driving force for me throughout my more than 20-year career. Often times, I was the only Indian in the room. My goal is to help shift this dynamic,” says Kotecha, aged 46, to The Hollywood Reporter. “India’s songwriting and production talent is second to none. Our venture, Outwrite, will equip these talented individuals with the tools, mentorship, and exposure they need to thrive internationally. Additionally, we aim to elevate music publishing standards in India by addressing long-standing issues such as unfair royalties, credit discrepancies, and lack of understanding regarding rights, ensuring that Indian songwriters and producers receive the recognition and compensation they rightfully deserve.

As a die-hard music enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the incredible work Max Martin has done in the industry. Known for his collaborations with artists like Ariana Grande, he has co-written some of her Top 10 hits that have become anthems to many, such as “Problem,” “Break Free,” “Love Me Harder,” “Bang Bang,” “Side to Side,” “God Is a Woman,” “No Tears Left to Cry” and “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored.” His impressive portfolio also includes hits like The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat,” Britney Spears’ “I Wanna Go” and “If U Seek Amy.”

Aayushman Sinha, the founder and CEO of REPRESENT, shares with THR that the platform was created to empower the unsung heroes behind the music we love – the songwriters and sound creators. Our mission is to nurture talent, fill gaps, and spur financial and collaborative development for the upcoming generation of artists.

Speaking as someone who’s penned tracks for Indian artists like Zaeden and KASYAP, I’ve noticed a striking void in our music industry. Many of us – songwriters, producers, or managers – are unaware of the intricacies of music publishing or what we truly deserve. As a songwriter myself, I’ve witnessed the antiquated nature of this system up close. Outwrite was conceived from a passion to rewrite this story. When I shared my vision with Aayushman, he instantly recognized its potential, and with Savan’s expertise on board, we’re thrilled to propel our writers onto the global stage. Our goal is to guarantee they receive everything they rightfully deserve and even more.
