Previously of “Today” show, Hoda Kotb has now officially kicked off her new project, Joy 101 – a wellness hub and supportive network aimed at guiding individuals towards living more fulfilled, balanced, and meaningful lives.
When you discover something extraordinary, something that has such a profound impact on your life that you can’t help but tell others about it? That’s exactly what Joy 101 is for me! It’s a platform where I get to share the wisdom, positivity, and healing I’ve gained from some of the best minds in wellness. Imagine it as an introduction to a more fulfilling, harmonious, and radiant life. Let’s embark on this journey together!”
(The aim here is to maintain the original sentiment while making the language more conversational and easier to understand.)
Joy 101 offers a mobile application, online lessons, exercises, and workshops, along with live seminars and social events.
The app provides a supportive path for individuals, offering daily advice from leading experts, handpicked by Kotb and personalized to each user. Joy 101 will encompass various techniques and wisdom that significantly impacted Kotb’s life, such as breathing exercises, meditation, physical activities, expressing gratitude, and sleep management strategies. Additionally, the app will offer in-depth courses on topics like purpose, happiness, and curiosity, with the first class being a condensed version of Suzy Welch’s NYU course titled “Becoming You,” taught by university professors.
A team of advisors called The Joy Collective, consisting of happiness expert Professor Arthur Brooks, entrepreneur and podcast host Emma Grede, Magnolia co-founder and designer Joanna Gaines, Maria Shriver, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, and neuroscientist and dean of NYU’s College of Arts and Science Dr. Wendy Suzuki, are assisting Kotb with this project.
Joy 101 offers its members opportunities to connect and flourish by hosting live Zoom sessions called “Hoda’s Happiness Hours” with friends and specialists, starting from June 11, featuring Hoda Kotb’s former co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager. Additionally, members will have early access to in-person retreats, which will commence in the fall.
The Joy 101 membership, which can be accessed via the soon-to-be-released app (available for pre-order on iOS as of now, and Android on June 11), offers two subscription plans: $16.99 per month with a 14-day free trial, or $99 annually, including a 30-day free trial.
Back in September, Kotb announced her intention to depart from the NBC’s Today show. She subsequently fixed January 10, 2025, as her final day on the program.
Kotb expressed her feelings as she recently celebrated her 60th birthday, acknowledging it as a significant milestone. She began contemplating what this new decade might bring for her, asking herself questions about its potential and possibilities. In light of these reflections, she decided it was the perfect time to embark on a fresh journey and try something new. Having become a parent later in life, she felt that her children deserved more of her time, as she recognizes our lives are limited.
As Kotb from 2018, I’ve shared the co-anchor role on the first two hours of Today with Guthrie. However, Craig Melvin has stepped into my shoes for those hours. Regarding my fourth hour gig alongside Bush Hager on Today, Bush Hager has been hosting a variety of guest co-hosts, making it Today With Jenna & Friends these days.
On Wednesdays, I find myself stepping into the role of a cherished friend once more, joining the fourth hour of Today alongside my gracious partner, Bush Hager, as we share the stage together.
Recently, Kotb had been teasing Joy 101 on her personal social media.
Ever since parting ways with “Today,” I’ve been devoting more time to my precious daughters and keeping the microphone warm for my “Making Space” podcast. Excitingly, I’m gearing up to publish a book this fall, titled “Jump and Find Joy: Embracing Chaos in Every Season of Life.” Can’t wait to share it with you all!
