As a seasoned concert-goer with more than a handful of power outage incidents ruining my evenings at live shows, I can’t help but feel a twinge of familiar disappointment upon hearing about the cancellation of Vance Joy’s performance at the Hollywood Bowl due to yet another power outage. It seems like Mother Nature and the local power grid have it in for me and fellow music enthusiasts.
The Hollywood Bowl was forced to cancel its Sept. 8 show due to a power outage.
The venue posted on its website that the concert, headlined by Vance Joy, had been called off.
The Vance Joy concert tonight at Hollywood Bowl has been called off because of a power failure in the area. We’re sorry for any trouble this may cause you. If we can reschedule the show, we’ll provide updates and your original tickets will still be valid for the new date. No additional steps are required from you.
Attendees were instructed to reach out to the Audience Services team via email at information@laphil.org if they needed further details, or if they wanted to request a refund or exchange.
It’s uncertain what led to the power failure or when normal service will be resumed. Originally, the performance was set to begin at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.
Also on Sunday’s bill were indie rockers GROUPLOVE and folk-pop group Tiny Habits.
The concert was planned to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Joy’s first album, “Dream Your Life Away,” which featured the popular track “Riptide.” On Sunday evening, the Australian artist was anticipated to perform songs from that album along with other hits from his music career.
