Hollywood Events Face Wave of Cancelations Amid Los Angeles Fires

In response to multiple wildfires burning across Los Angeles, Hollywood has temporarily halted its activities as strong, hazardous winds swept through the region on Tuesday.

The premieres for “Unstoppable” and “Wolf Man,” as well as an awards event for “Emilia Pérez,” were called off on Tuesday, followed by the cancellation of red carpet events for “Better Man,” “The Pitt,” and “On Call” on Wednesday. Despite winds being forecasted to subside by Wednesday evening, the town has emptied its event calendar for several days ahead due to safety concerns and respect for those affected by the fires burning in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena, Altadena, and other parts of the city.

The upcoming premiere of “The Last Showgirl,” featuring Pamela Anderson, scheduled for the TCL Chinese Theatre on Thursday, has been called off. The special screenings of “Love Me” and “A Complete Unknown,” along with a screening dinner featuring Coach star Elle Fanning, have also been delayed. Additionally, American Cinematheque’s fourth annual event honoring the Crafts, scheduled for the Egyptian Theatre, has been postponed as well.

The AFI Awards ceremony, which usually celebrates the top films and TV shows of the year with a glamorous luncheon, has been delayed until a later date. Similarly, the BAFTA Tea Party scheduled for Beverly Hills on Saturday has been canceled. Likewise, the Critics Choice Awards, originally planned for Sunday in Santa Monica, have also been postponed to a future date.

To date, the scheduled events in New York haven’t been called off. For instance, the National Board of Review held its NYC awards gala yesterday, and as of now, the premieres for “American Primeval”, “Back in Action”, and “Goosebumps: The Vanishing” in New York are still intact.
