According to KCAL news, Station 19 in Brentwood has been without both electricity and hot water for several days running.

Teamsters 399 arrived and provided a large supply of equipment approximately an hour and a half ago, allowing the team to better manage their strategy in dealing with the fires using proper lighting tools instead of flashlights,” reported Laurie Perez from KCAL on Sunday.

The action was prompted following a local resident sharing on social media that the station had lost power. Teamsters 399, a union encompassing drivers, animal handlers, trainers, wranglers, location professionals, casting directors, and dispatchers among others, became aware of this post. They contacted the captain and provided a generator, which quickly restored power to the station within a couple of hours.

Alex Mestres, a Teamster member, shared his thoughts on why he and his family chose to lend aid, following the loss of his mother Tracy’s home due to the fires. This was expressed during an interview with KCAL.

We offer trailers, power, and electricity. We cater to studios, entertainment, and the film industry, and he declared, ‘Now is my chance to contribute.’ He desired to be involved in this vibrant scene. Seeing the tireless efforts of the fire department, he realized they needed more than just darkness. They required showers, running water, warm water, lights, and communication. In that moment, he thought, ‘This situation presents an opportunity for assistance.’

Speaking as a devoted fan, let me express my deep gratitude to our brave firefighters. Their selfless actions are simply beyond compare; this is but a small token of appreciation compared to their extraordinary efforts.

Captain Robert Hawkins from Station 19 expressed their gratitude towards the aid they received.

He expressed his gratitude as they now have electricity, allowing them to enjoy hot showers. He also acknowledged the difficult situation, mentioning the heartbreaking sight of neighborhood destruction. Yet, he emphasized a silver lining: people coming together in times like these to do good. He concluded by stating that it’s our responsibility to contribute positively and work tirelessly for the betterment of our community.

At least 24 individuals have perished in the blazes, while 16 others are still unaccounted for. The largest fires currently burning are the Palisades Fire, situated close to Brentwood, and the Eaton Fire. By Sunday morning, approximately 11% of the Palisades fire and 27% of the Eaton fire had been successfully contained.
