Holthinrichs’ ORNAMENT NOUVEAU Timepiece Marks the Birth of the First Dutch-Made Caliber

As a watch enthusiast with a penchant for unique and innovative timepieces, I must say that the Holthinrichs ORNAMENT NOUVEAU has truly captured my heart. Hailing from the Netherlands, this stunning creation is a testament to the country’s ingenuity, craftsmanship, and design prowess.

Holthinrichs’ ORNAMENT NOUVEAU timepiece, a creation by this Dutch watch brand, has just been revealed, thereby carving out a unique place in watchmaking lore as they introduce their first ever completely homegrown movement.

Kicking off the week, the watchmaker unveiled a sneak peek of the design for our latest project on Instagram, boasting it as “the pinnacle of wrist artistry” and their contender in this year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Men’s Watch category award.

Introducing for the first time a completely Dutch-produced and in-house designed mechanical movement – the HW-M02 – this watch is both sculptural and technically advanced. Its caliber is transparently showcased through the sapphire crystal on both its face and back. With approximately 85 hours of power reserve, it’s also artfully crafted with a sophisticated design. A notable feature is the exquisitely constructed free-sprung balance wheel, which can be admired on its three-dimensional “Holthinbridge” sapphire balance bridge, positioned at the 6 o’clock mark on the dial.

As I track its graceful dance across my gaming screen, there’s no denying the captivating beauty of the Ornament Nouveau. Crafted from robust Grade 5 titanium, its case showcases an unusual design that’s distinctly Holthinrichs’. Sitting pretty at 39.5mm wide, this 3D-printed marvel exudes a refined, classical, and romantic charm that harmoniously complements its mesmerizing Eclipse dial, weaving a poetic symphony in my virtual world.

Holthinrichs’ distinctive design features a dial that transitions from a smoky black to an intricate openworked display when exposed to certain lighting. To harmonize with this, the hour and minute hands are skeletonized in coordinating shades, mirroring the rhodium, gold, and rose gold hues on its mechanism’s surface.

Featuring a hornback alligator strap in a rich brown hue, the ORNAMENT NOUVEAU boasts an exclusive production run of just 100 pieces. To learn about its current status and pricing information, please check out Holthinrichs’ official site.
