Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah’s career grinds to halt after s*xual misconduct controversy?

Since independent filmmaker Abhinav Singh accused Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah of sexual misconduct, there’s been a lot of discussion online. Following Dharma Productions speaking out on the issue, the industry has taken immediate action against Pratik. In response to calls for action, he has been removed from upcoming projects and an internal investigation has been launched against him as well.

Based on information from Mid-day, it appears that Pratik Shah has been removed from Shefali Shah’s upcoming, unnamed movie. An inside source revealed that this decision was made due to the serious allegations against him. The production team is now looking for a new actor to fill his role, as the filming is scheduled to begin in just a few days.

The report indicates a strong possibility that the cinematographer will no longer be part of Rajkummar Rao’s biographical film about Sourav Ganguly, which is being directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

Furthermore, The Hollywood Report has also verified the news, noting that the producers have chosen to sever ties with Shah, who had been conducting location scouting not long ago in London. According to a source, “The reconnaissance mission continued until recently, and Shah returned to India shortly after these accusations surfaced.

Additionally, it’s disclosed in the Mid-day report that an investigation has been initiated internally on the same subject as well.

Following the premiere of Homebound at Cannes, Pratik traveled to the UK for preliminary investigations on the biopic. However, due to recent accusations against him, an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) has been established to look into these matters before any decisions regarding his role are made. Meanwhile, production on the project is proceeding as planned according to schedule.

These new allegations against Shah have sparked fresh worries about women’s security in the industry. In response, the IWCC has acknowledged this issue and is taking action. It was also disclosed that a complaint had been lodged with the IWCC against Pratik as far back as 2020, which they are now carefully considering.

Additionally, the committee, giving the issue careful consideration, has similarly invited women cinematographers to speak up and discuss any relevant experiences they may have had, with Pratik.

Instead, let’s rephrase this in a more straightforward manner: Two women from diverse areas within the entertainment world spoke up about Pratik’s alleged misbehavior. They described how he reportedly initiated inappropriate conversations on Instagram or dating apps, which eventually became explicit. It has been asserted that these conversations involved him sending unwanted nude pictures and lewd voice messages.

Pratik hasn’t made a public comment on the accusations against him, but soon after they surfaced, he deactivated his Instagram account.

Despite Homebound garnering unwanted attention lately, director Neeraj Ghaywan took to social media to express his appreciation. In light of the ongoing controversy, he chose not to mention Shah directly, but instead thanked the entire team – writers Sumit Roy, Shoaib Nazeer, and Varun Grover – for their work on the film’s dialogues.

He strolled along reminiscent pathways, reflecting on his cinematic voyage that originated from an article titled “Taking Amrit Home” penned by Basharat Peer, which was featured in The New York Times. Additionally, Ghaywan acknowledged the film’s creators, such as Dharma Productions, Somen Mishra, and his crew, among others.
