Being privy to frequent visits to theme parks, which I consider more like a job than leisure, has made me realize how fortunate I am. Growing up, I’ve always loved these parks, and over the past few decades, I’ve become an amateur expert in themed entertainment. Lately, I find myself observing theme parks with a more analytical perspective.
After that, I went to Disneyland with someone who was visiting for the first time. Tiffany Ma, the Social Media Manager at TopMob, and I were invited to attend the 70th Anniversary Celebration preview at Disneyland, where we had some work to do but also got to enjoy the park as fans. Watching Disneyland through fresh eyes really made me appreciate it in a new light too.
I Saw The Other Guests For The First Time In A Long Time
Disneyland is usually bustling with people, making the notion of off-peak seasons seem somewhat outdated. While I often find other visitors as hindrances to my activities, Tiffney noticed them and, more importantly, saw the joy they were experiencing. This observation added to her enjoyment. She shared with me…
I was pleased to notice how genuinely enthusiastic everyone appeared to be at the event. Normally, large gatherings aren’t my cup of tea, but when people seem generally happy, it transforms the experience into an enjoyable one. The park was brimming with enchantment; even as an adult, I felt a childlike excitement and found myself smiling frequently as I wandered through the grounds. There’s always something fascinating to engage with or observe around every corner, which makes the time pass by effortlessly.
In the past, I often felt uplifted. I recall watching a diverse crowd, ranging from youngsters to elders, dancing to the tunes of the Mad T Party Band a decade ago. The sight of everyone reveling in joy made me feel more optimistic. After all, we’re all there to have a good time, right? It’s definitely disheartening when someone seems unhappy at Disneyland, so let’s remember that it can be equally true when someone is enjoying themselves too.

Am I “Character” Guy, Now?
For numerous enthusiasts, one of the primary attractions of Disneyland lies in the opportunity to witness beloved Disney characters in a lifelike manner. Capturing a photograph with a cherished character can sometimes be quite sought-after, leading to lines that are among the longest within the park. As a result, I usually skip over character photos when planning my activities at Disneyland.
During this latest trip, I managed to take more character photos than on any other three visits I can recall. This wasn’t only due to good fortune, such as avoiding long queues, but also because my first-time companion had a keen interest in characters and their interactions with visitors. In her own words…
The costumes of the characters we observed were incredibly intricate and gave off a magical aura. It was delightful watching them move around, engaging with the audience. The cast’s performance was outstanding, creating moments that left an impression on me. Seeing children and adults alike beaming with joy and even exchanging jokes with them is an experience I won’t forget easily.
Let me tell you, that interaction with Gaston and Donald was quite enjoyable, and it’s something I won’t forget easily. Hanging out with them and giving a friendly fist-bump was fun indeed! While I’m not entirely convinced about spending all my time at a Disneyland After Dark event for a photo opportunity, I might have to rethink the wait time, as it could be worth it after all.

I Appreciated Disneyland’s Lack Of “Size”
When it comes to a side-by-side comparison between Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the advantage of size that Disney World possesses is usually highlighted. In essence, Disney World serves as an expansive vacation destination. To put it in perspective, Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom in Disney World towers significantly over Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. This discrepancy often becomes a topic of amusement among Disney World enthusiasts who find the latter to be rather petite. However, Tiffney, who was born and raised in Florida and frequented Disney World throughout her childhood, never perceived Disneyland as small; instead, she saw it as unique in its own right. She elaborated…
I spent my childhood in Walt Disney World and cherish numerous pleasant recollections from there. What particularly appealed to me about Disneyland was its likeness, which evoked a sense of comfort, yet its differences that sparked excitement. For instance, the Sleeping Beauty’s castle differs from Cinderella’s Castle, making it an intriguing reminder of the vastness and diversity within the realm of Walt Disney.
Despite being smaller compared to several other theme parks and even some Disney parks, Disneyland manages to cram an impressive array of attractions into its limited space. Notably, numerous top-tier theme park rides can be experienced here, with many of these Disneyland rides surpassing their counterparts at Walt Disney World in terms of quality. Perhaps it is this compactness that adds to the enchantment of Disneyland.

The Wonder Of Disneyland Was On Full Display
It’s commonly believed that a truly exceptional theme park is set apart by an “attention to detail.” As someone with expertise in themed entertainment, I fully grasp this concept, but sometimes, I struggle to recognize it myself. Whether it’s a small element or a significant prop, after multiple viewings, it can lose its initial charm. However, observing Tiffney encounter the Millennium Falcon for the first time reminded me of my own first impression. She exclaimed…
I was utterly amazed by the intricate details found within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The textures and hues were so vivid, and the size of certain elements, such as the Millennium Falcon, was truly jaw-dropping. It felt like stepping onto a real Star Wars film set. As an adult, it remains breathtakingly awe-inspiring. At the movies or on TV at home, you see these things, but to witness some of the movie’s creations built to scale in a place where you can explore freely is simply incredible.
Over the course of my visits to both Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, I’ve passed by the Millennium Falcon approximately 100 times. At first glance, it might seem like I’ve grown accustomed to its presence, but upon closer inspection, it never fails to impress. From various vantage points within the land, you can observe it from unique angles, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail in each viewpoint.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but view the 70th anniversary festivities at my beloved theme park as the perfect opportunity for a refreshed outlook. It’s a moment to reminisce about the past and anticipate the future. I eagerly await another visit to Disneyland, hopefully not too far off, as a new Walt Disney attraction is set to debut that I simply can’t miss! When I return, I’m sure my experiences will be tinted with a sense of renewal, having been gifted with a brand-new perspective.
