As an ardent fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I find myself utterly captivated by the enigmatic presence of Evan Peters. His ability to breathe life into characters like Ralph Bohner is nothing short of extraordinary. The way he seamlessly transitions from one role to another, while maintaining a distinctive identity for each character, is truly mesmerizing.
In an unexpected twist, Evan Peters once again stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his character Ralph Bohner in the Disney+ series “Agatha All Along.” The show, which follows Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) and Billy (Joe Locke) on their travels down the Witches Road, delved into Billy’s past in episode six, titled “Familiar by Thy Side.” This is where we found Peters reappearing as Ralph, a figure we met in 2021’s “WandaVision.” In that series, Agatha Harkness manipulated Ralph to pretend to be Pietro Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch’s twin brother.
In a chat with Deadline, creator and showrunner Jac Schaeffer discussed bringing Peters’ character, Ralph Bohner, back onto our screens in Agatha All Along.
If given the choice, I firmly believe Evan Peters would play Ralph Bohner in every scene. I had certain conditions set for this series, aspects I’ve discussed extensively… things like music, makeup, costumes, and the exploration of witchcraft within the MCU. However, there was one requirement that I couldn’t openly discuss – Evan Peters. He was always part of the plan, no matter what. My script for the writers read something like this: ‘Here’s Agatha, here’s Billy, this is our story, and by the way, don’t forget about Evan Peters.’ I can’t recall how we decided to have him deliver an expository monologue, but I’m incredibly proud of us. Evan has a captivating presence that makes even complex exposition seem like a spellbinding trick.
Agatha All Along Creator Wanted to Bring Westview Residents Back
Schaeffer expressed that integrating the residents of Westview was crucial to make the story relatable and reflect real-life experiences amidst a universe of superheroes. She found Ralph’s perspective, who endured hardships during ‘WandaVision,’ particularly engaging. During an interview with Variety, Schaeffer mentioned that bringing Peters back for the role was effortless. Impressed by his positive outlook on everything, she shared that he contributed several character ideas, such as the animal skull totem used by Ralph in the series.
“He made it from, like, props and things that they had on the day. That hat has all these etchings in it — that was his idea. The witch spray was his idea. He just jumps all the way in.”
Peter has multiple upcoming roles, such as the 2023 film “Tron: Ares,” where he will join forces with Jared Leto, Greta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smith on the big screen. Furthermore, he is scheduled to collaborate once more with American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy for the upcoming FX series titled “The Beauty.” Based on the 2016 graphic novel by Jeremy Haun and Jason Howard, this series revolves around a sexually transmitted disease that brings about unusual physical appearances. Filming is expected to start this fall, with Peter starring alongside Anthony Ramos, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Pope. It remains uncertain if Peter will return to American Horror Story, but Murphy has hinted at the prospect of bringing him and Sarah Paulson back into the horror anthology series.
Agatha All Along made its debut on Disney+ on September 18th. Fresh installments become available every Wednesday, and the last two episodes are scheduled for release on Halloween, which falls on October 30th.
