In Elden Ring’s Nightreign, the ominous and imposing threat of the Night’s Tide looms over Limveld. Though From Software’s newest game isn’t a battle royale, it does borrow an element from this genre – a shrinking circle that progressively constricts on a particular region of the map.
If you’re curious about the mechanics behind the Night’s Tide and its influence on each journey within Elden Ring: Nightreign, this guide provides an explanation of the Night’s Tide’s functions, along with helpful advice for navigating it.
How the Night’s Tide in Elden Ring Nightreign works
In Elden Ring: Nightreign, the course of the journey is shaped by the relentless approach of the Tide of the Night. Essentially, this is a lethal rainfall that advances across the map, encroaching upon a random region where a boss battle occurs. This event takes place at the end of Day 1 and Day 2; following Day 2, you’ll be transported to an area outside Limveld for final preparations before facing the Night Lord designated for your expedition.
Every day lasts approximately 15 minutes. Over this duration, you’ll observe how the circle outside the map gradually reduces in size. You’ll receive on-screen alerts when this happens, but regularly opening the map to check its location and whether it’s moving is a beneficial habit to establish.
Getting wet from the rain gradually decreases your vitality. If the rain completely depletes your health points (HP), you’ll drop a level and lose any runes needed to resurrect. There’s a brief moment when the Nightfarer lies on the ground, offering a chance for your teammates to revive you; however, it might be challenging due to the rain.
As a fellow enthusiast, let me share some tips from my gaming journey. Remember, the respawn location is unpredictable and won’t guide you towards your teammates, potentially causing more deaths until you’ve managed to escape the clutches of Night’s Tide. The rain can be irritating and challenging, but you can use your flasks to restore your health. Keep an eye on nearby Sites of Grace, especially when heading towards a boss fight. If you don’t refill your flasks in time, you might find yourself low on resources for the battle.
If you perished during Day 1 within the Night’s Tide, you have a chance to regain the runes you lost on Day 2, including those associated with the level you forfeited. To do this, make your way back to where you died and retrieve the runes. Keep in mind that the closer your death was to the boss encounter area, the easier it will be to reach them. As you approach, you’ll find that you can quickly dash towards the runes and collect them. Don’t fret about using all of your flasks as they can be refilled before facing off against the Night Lord.
