How Real was the Plot Leak for Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet?

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the gaming landscape has never been more exciting than it is now. The latest announcement from Naughty Dog, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, sent shockwaves through the community and left us all eagerly anticipating what’s to come.

Among the highly anticipated games revealed at The Game Awards, one that stirred a lot of excitement was Neil Druckmann’s upcoming project, titled “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet“. However, Naughty Dog has been tight-lipped about the type of narrative players can anticipate in this game.

As a fervent supporter, I can’t help but share the buzz surrounding a recent rumor. A potential leak on 4chan, circulated via Twitter, hints at the plotline of our beloved game. Given the similarity with The Last of Us Part II’s pre-release leaks, it’s hard not to feel a sense of excitement and skepticism all rolled into one. Could this be the real deal? Only time will tell!

Fake Leaks Debunked

According to the source, it’s been reported that a story outline was shared with journalists such as Jason Schreier. However, as stated by Forbes, Schreier himself denies receiving any such information or having access to an ‘exclusive Discord server’ for game journalists.

A valuable hint regarding Druckmann’s narrative comes from his own explanation given to The New York Times: “My story is quite far-reaching, focusing on a made-up religion and the consequences of trusting various institutions.

In light of the recent development, this intriguing tale, initially leaked on Twitter, has sparked widespread interest and is currently being widely circulated among numerous users.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that when the 4chan leak suggested The Last of Us Part II’s storyline bore striking resemblances to Intergalactic, it was hard not to get excited. However, upon closer inspection, there are just too many inconsistencies and plot holes for it to be convincing. From the questionable reliability of the leaked information, originating from a disgruntled ND employee, to the seemingly impossible spread of such detailed story secrets among insiders, I find it hard to believe that Intergalactic is indeed the true narrative for The Last of Us Part II.

What Do We Know about the Game?

Up until now, our understanding of the game is relatively superficial. It has been verified that its narrative unfolds in a retro-sci-fi setting reminiscent of both “Akira” and “Cowboy Bebop”, suggesting that while there may be space exploration, much of the technology remains analog or low-tech.

The actors Tony Dalton, Kumail Nanjiani, and Troy Baker, along with others, are set to appear in the game; however, it remains undisclosed what specific roles they will play. It appears that these characters may have some connection to the protagonist Jordan (Tati Gabrielle), who seems to be a space bounty hunter, hinting at a possible shared past.

In terms of gameplay, it appears Jordan will be handling some futuristic weapons and battling gigantic robots. So far, only cinematics have been shown, but there’s talk about Intergalactic boasting some of the most immersive gameplay that Naughty Dog has ever incorporated into a game.

It seems quite plausible that Druckmann, being deeply passionate about video games and empathy, might continue along the same path for the upcoming game, “Intergalactic.” While some fans were divided over “The Last of Us Part II,” it’s possible that “Intergalactic” could offer an emotionally charged narrative but in a more concise manner. This compact emotional journey could serve as a prelude to the highly anticipated “The Last of Us Part III.

As an eager enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” is on its way, albeit without a specific release date just yet. However, we can anticipate it gracing our PS5 consoles within the coming years!
