As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is a gem in the PlayStation universe, and Ape’s on the Loose level, inspired by Ape Escape, is a testament to its creativity. The challenge of catching the elusive gold butterfly in Gorilla Nebula was a delightful puzzle to solve, reminding me of my early days of hunting for those blasted apes in the original game.
Exploring PlayStation’s Past Once More: Astro Bot’s Journey Reminiscent of Ape Escape’s Classic Adventure, and This Time We’re Chasing Gold Butterflies for Another Trophy in Gorilla Nebula – a level that tests your skills!
Our guide will teach you how to catch the elusive gold butterfly and earn the Net Profit Trophy.
How To Catch the Gold Butterfly in Astro Bot
Playing “Apes on the Loose” marks the climactic end of Gorilla Nebula, which players unlock by overcoming the powerful boss, Mighty Chewy. This level is where you’re introduced to heroic gameplay for the first time. Here, you leverage Spike’s skills from Ape Escape, enabling you to trap the apes using a net. Incidentally, this net can also capture butterflies and insects in the vicinity, offering an opportunity to gather some useful coins.
In order to capture the elusive golden butterfly, you need to discover where it dwells first, as it is not just fluttering in one location. Unfortunately, this rare butterfly has a knack for hiding itself skillfully. Consequently, you won’t spot it unless by some luck, your presence startles it out of its hiding place unintentionally.
Once you have the net, collect the first Ape Bot and climb the wall.
As you traverse through your exploration, if a big statue appears in sight, make a beeline towards it. Circumnavigate to its right side until you reach the back, where you’ll find a ladder. A glass bridge lies ahead, with a monkey standing by, but for now, resist the urge to cross it. After vanquishing the adversary, locate the small shrubs on either side of the structure. Strike the one on the right, and a large, radiant Golden Butterfly will take flight.
When the butterfly takes flight, it can be challenging to maintain pace due to its sudden and swift movements when it senses you’re following it. At this point, pay close attention to its flying pattern, as it often follows a path around the statue. If you find yourself falling behind, move along the rails encircling the statue’s center instead. This will help you stay near the butterfly without giving away your pursuit.
As the butterfly begins circling the statue, approaching it becomes easier. Once near, jump across and encase it in your net using R2. This action grants the Net Profit Trophy, moving you closer to earning the Platinum Trophy.
