In Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll find yourself embarking on numerous side missions right up until the endgame, with Continuing Conflict being one of the most challenging. This mission requires you to hunt a tempered Rathian and a tempered Quematrice in the Windward Plains. These tempered monsters will undoubtedly push your abilities and the skills you’ve acquired to their limits.
Depending on your equipment, you might want to give yourself time to gear up before attempting the mission. Unlocking Continuing Conflict takes time, but once you meet the conditions, Murtabak in the Kunafa village will need your assistance. Here’s everything you need to know to complete the Continuing Conflict side quest.
How To Start The Continuing Conflict Side Quest
You need to meet two conditions before you unlock access to Continuing Conflict. The first is to complete Chapter 5-3, A Break in the Clouds, which follows your defeat of the apex predators of the Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin, and Windward Plains. Second, you need to reach Hunter Rank 31.
1. Complete all necessary steps as guided,
2. Then, journey to Kunafa Village nestled in the heart of the Plains,
3. Engage in conversation with Murtabak, a notable figure in this village,
4. He’ll share news about two monsters causing chaos in the region and seek your aid.
Speak to Alma whenever you’re ready to challenge the tempered Rathain and tempered Quematrice.
How To Complete The Continuing Conflict Side Quest

Of the two targets, we recommend going for the tempered Rathian first. Its movements are more erratic, and its attacks generally hit harder, so taking the time to deal with it while you have that time is preferable. The Quematrice is a lesser threat and shouldn’t take nearly as much time or effort to overcome.
In a battle scenario, it would be advantageous to pit Rathians against Dragons as Rathians are vulnerable to the Dragon element, and Quematrices against Water-based opponents since they are weak to the Water element. This tactic will maximize your damage output.
To effectively combat Rathian, you’ll need a good number of Flashbugs around. This creature often flies, making it difficult to reach and hit. However, Flashbugs have the ability to make Rathian come back down to the ground.

1. Find and defeat/capture the tempered monsters.
2. Return to Murtabak at Kunafa when you’re done to claim your rewards.
Rewards For Completing The Continuing Conflict Side Quest

Completing Continuing Conflict offers an abundance of rewards, with the most significant being Artian weapon components gained from hunting tempered beasts. Additionally, you’ll collect a set of High-Rank monster resources and acquire Hunter Symbol 1.
Turning in the quest to Murtabak also awards:
- Three units of Sharp Kunafa Cheese for grilling
- 20 Thunderbug Capacitors
- 300 Guild Points
- A sizeable chunk of Hunter Rank XP.
You also unlock access to multi-monster Field Survey quests in the Windward Plains, which are by far the best way to farm Artian weapon parts, decorations, and materials.
