As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating treacherous virtual realms, I can confidently say that Black Myth: Wukong has proven to be quite the challenge. The optional boss Guangzhi, in particular, has left me scratching my head more than once. But fear not, fellow gamers! With a bit of strategy and some clever resource management, this formidable foe can be vanquished.
You get into a fight with this optional boss in the early stages of Black Myth: Wukong while having little to start with. At this crucial stage, your best bet is strategy.
For optimal success using your restricted assets, here’s a walkthrough on overcoming Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong. Dive in to expand your knowledge.
Tips for fighting Guangzhi

Guangzi carries a spear that deals close-range and long-range fire damage.
At this stage, we recommend investing in the following resources:
- Body-Cooling Powder: You can equip this from a nearby shrine. As the name suggests, the powder enhances fire resistance against Guangzhi’s fire-based attacks.
- Rampant Vigor: This is a skill, and you’ll have to utilize your Sparks to purchase it. The Rampont Vigor excels in granting you HP, Mana, Stamina, and Damage.
- Simian Agility: You can treat this as an alternative or a backup after Rampant Vigor. Simian Agility decreases your stamina cost, so you can use more dodges against Guangzhi without depleting tons of stamina.
Beating Guangzhi
In this game, it’s not about you taking the initiative against Guangzhi; instead, you should anticipate his actions and respond accordingly. Initially, he will come at you with powerful close-range attacks, thanks to his fully loaded health bar. To handle this, it would be wise to maintain some distance. Use your dodging skills to counter his aggressive close-quarter attacks.
Do not attack Guangzhi while he’s attempting his combos. This will do more damage than good.
After finishing his series of moves, there’s a brief moment when he pauses for the next attack – this is your chance to inflict harm. Avoid using powerful strikes since they require more time to execute, giving the boss enough time to revert back to its initial form.
At the start of his assault, Guangzhi briefly kneels. Casting the Immovable spell at this moment would immobilize him, providing an opportunity to attack vulnerable spots like the upper neck area.
When the Immobile spell runs out, step back from the boss as he won’t attack you from a distance. This gives you space to recharge your free spell without encountering Guangzhi directly.
As his health diminishes, he’ll shift towards employing elaborate, long-ranged attacks. However, the approach stays consistent – dodge, wait, and strike.
Rewards For Defeating Guangzhi

After overcoming an optional enemy, you’ll acquire his fire-spewing weapon and a magical transformation known as Red Tide.
